THE WILD
WORLD OF TED V. MIKELS
60 years of filmmaking -- 1
movie!
[Las Vegas, NV] THE WILD
WORLD OF TED V. MIKELS,
a new documentary by Kevin Sean
Michaels (no blood relation to
Ted, but the same spirit), is a
rollicking look at the
independent cinema and film
pioneering of Ted V. Mikels, who
has producing films for over 60
years. Way before limited-budget
action films became termed as
"grindhouse," Ted was
wowing audiences with his own
special brand of guts, gore,
humor, violence and most of all
-- style.
THE CORPSE GRINDERS 1 + 2,
THE ASTRO-ZOMBIES,
10 VIOLENT WOMEN,
MISSION: KILLFAST, THE
BLACK KLANSMAN,
THE DOLL SQUAD, THE
WORM EATERS and GIRL
IN GOLD BOOTS are some
of Ted's films that have made
their cinematic mark.
In one WILD WORLD
documentary segment, Ted
demonstrates techniques of how to
shoot an independent film.
Superstar actress-model Masuimi
Max and Black Betty (After Dark
Films "Miss
Horrorfest") work together
with Ted, as he shows them how a
scene ought to be played, with
hilarious results. "I
learned more with Ted in one day
than I have in fifteen years of
acting," admits Black Betty
a.k.a. Jessica Chisum.
Ted also reveals the secrets of
his success and gives a rare
inside look into his studio,
editing facilities and home. Ted
shares stories of the trials and
tribulations making it in the
movie business, the essence of
showmanship, and the days of
living in a giant
"castle" mansion with a
harem of women.
The documentary features new
interviews
with Ted himself,
screen legend Tura Satana (Russ
Meyer's FASTER PUSSYCAT
KILL! KILL! and Ted
Mikels' ASTRO-ZOMBIES and
THE DOLL SQUAD)
plus actors that have worked with
Ted on his new feature film DEMON
HAUNT as well as his
other productions.
"I was very excited to get a
chance to work with Ted,"
filmmaker Kevin Sean Michaels (VAMPIRA:
THE MOVIE) says. "I
am blown away by his energy. He
is a phenomenon."
The new documentary THE
WILD WORLD OF TED V. MIKELS
is sure to pack a punch in 2008!

Last but not least
our June radio show is now on
as we have an interview by
Michael Berryman along with a
giveaway prize too.
June 4,
2007 - What's up
with scream queen Kelly Ray?
Well folks here's
her comments iof what she's been
up to these days:
I have been
living in Salisbury, NC for the
past year and a half. I
have had ups and downs in my move
from bigtown NYC to smallsville
Salisbury, but I am finally
finding a place here. I'm
starting to enjoy myself. I
just got back from the
beach. That was a necessary
break that I needed, and I must
say it was not long enough!
AAAAAAA I have just
recently received the official
word from Les Mills that I am now
a certified BodyFLOW
instructor. That is a class
that is a combination of TaiChi,
Yoga, and Pilates. I
received a
"Distinction", which is
the highest honor possible.
That feels really great. I
am spreading peace and earthyness
one class at a time.
hahahahahahahaha (It's the hippie
that lives deep down in my soul.)
I am also
waiting for certification for a
class called BodyJAM. This
is a cardio, fitness, dance class
with a lot of hiphop and
latin-style dance. It is
INTENSE and quite
gratifying. It has been a
challenge and will continue to
be, but I absolutely LOVE
teaching it . . . and so do my
participants. I never
considered myself a dancer and am
now re-evaluating this thought. I just
had an awesome audition today for
a new dinner theater company in
Pineville, NC and I got the
part. It is for a trashy
little comedy called
"Natalie Needs a
Nighty" and I am
stoked. It will be my first
paid theater gig . . .
EVER! It is a 5 week run
this Summer!!!! YAY!
YAY! YAY!!
YAAAAAAAY!!!! I have to
admit that I thought I would
never grace the stage
again. Isn't life a strange
and interesting roller coaster? THAT was
my big news. I have other
things going on in my life, but
nothing worth writing home about
. . . yet. I have been
seeing someone new these past few
months. His name is Lindsay
Coarsey. He is a fanTAStic
chef at a local Cafe here in
Salisbury. He's such
a wonderful, giving, and
caring man and things are
looking more on the up and up
every day. Not much
more to say on that.
My gym is possibly closing
down. I have been very sad
about this. They have had
money problems since before I
started there and that was a year
ago. We won't know what is
happening until this week.
We are all praying Daddy Warbucks
will show up, but that's just
wishful thinking. (le sigh)
So . . .
that's the skinny on me thus far
in this crazy thing we call
life. I hopoe you all
understand the mass email and are
not offended. I will keep
you posted on the production
dates of the show. NO
WORRIES! I love you all
dearly and hope to hear from you
soon.
Namaste, Kel
A new episode on our
radio show is now up
as we're giving away a special
prize too.
Plus, our radio plays are doing
great too and we are accepting 10
minute scripts for future
projects and please send them to
us at racksandrazors@racksandrazors.com and your
script might be heard on our
show.
May 12,
2007 - Dead
Serious awaiting a DVD release
'Dead
Serious' writer director
Joe Sullivan comments that now
has an international sales agent
who is trying to set up deals in
North America and overseas
territories. Having this
guy on our side is a big step
forward.
The film had a successful film
festival run all around North
America in the U.S. as well as
parts of Europe and it stars
Felissa Rose (Sleepaway
Camp), Michael
Weingartner, Brian Gianci (Passing
Time), Patrick
Swearingen, Tom Cahill (Biohazardous),
Paul Coughlin (Nothing to
Lose) and Carson Grant (The
Lost Face)
The plotline is about a religious
zealot and his terrorist cult
take over a gay bar in New York
City. Their plan is to remove the
scourge of homosexuality from the
planet. But little do they
realize that when the natural
order is tampered with, the wrath
of the undead is awakened. Now a
group of unlikely heroes must
fight to survive the night and
save the city.
From the twisted
minds of Phil Herman and Joel D.
Wynkoop comes the
latest Falcon Video Ltd
production, the last film in
the celebrated Midnight
trilogy...ALWAYS MIDNIGHT.
This multi-chapter horror movie
is hosted by Joel D. Wynkoop as
The Reaper who serves up a
smorgasbord of tales
dripping with blood, gore,
ghouls, sex, vampires, and
more. The large cast
includes Laura Giglio, Nancy
Feliciano, M. Catherine
Holseybrook-Wynkoop, Toni
Draggon, Gashley Darcane, Michael
Green, Bacchus Logan, and many
more...even a small cameo by
racksandrazors.com writer Owen
Keehnen as a male
newscaster. Copies are
available and can be ordered at
the Falcon Video Ltd website.
Filming is almost
completed for 'They Came
from the Attic' as there
has been some temporary issues as
while filming scene a fuse box
exploded and the electiricity was
out for a few hours but everyone
kept rolling afterwards and the
footage looks excellent.
writer/director Jason Mills hopes
to have the film distributed
before Halloween of this year as
there's interest so far and post
production has started already.
Check out their official site at www.theycamefromtheattic.com
Also, the second
episode of the Racks
& Razors Radio Play
is now up titled The Inn
of the Fisherman's Widow
and it's written by Irish
playwright Laura O'Connell who
did a fantastic job at it.
April 21,
2007 - A triple
DVD release by an underground
horror flick.
An underground
horror flick from Los Angeles
titled The River: The
Legend of Lalorona by Cinema
Threat Productions was
released last year with a set of
other underground horror films
titled Hostile Hauntings
(Which included H.P.
Lovecraft's The Shunned House)
and is now available on DVD with
it's two sequels titled Llorona
Gone Wild and is
available at www.amazon.com as well as
at www.customflix.com/227462. The 3
disc set contains (Legend
of La Llorona, Revenge
of La Llorona, Curse
of La Llorona)
Plus, Terrence will be working on
another horror flick which is a
spoof on the Hills Have
Eyes titled The
Hood Has Eyes which will
be shooting this June and
Terrence will begin marketing it
later this year.
Also, he is working on a script
for another horror film made on a
bigger budget for the year 2008
titled Evil Richard
and Racks & Razors moderator
Greg Russell Tiderington plans to
be in it which maybe another
surprise too.
Check out Terrence's interview
next month on their radio show.
Speaking of which,
this month's show is now up as it
features an interview with scream
king Jeff Dylan Graham (October
Moon, Dead &
Rotting). Their next
radio play will be up in a week.
Also Jeff Hayes from
www.sleepawaycampmovies.com screened
his short comedy-horror flick Grandma's
Sloppy Seconds at the
Horrorfest in Denver, Colorado on
April 21 where Sleepaway
Camp superstar Jonathan
Tiersten (Best remembered as
Ricky) signed autographs before
the showing there and then
afterwards he did a question and
answer session about Sleepaway
Camp and the long
awaited sequel Return to
Sleepaway Camp which had
a complete behind-the-scenes
sneak peek.
April 4,
2007 - SUPERCROC
starring Eric Spudic arrived on
DVD in the states on
Tuesday, April 3rd.
SUPERCROC
is from the makers of KING
OF THE ANTS, WAR
OF THE WORLDS, and SNAKES
ON A TRAIN. Racks and
Razors interviewee Eric
plays a nerdy soldier in
this one. Check out the trailer
at http://www.theasylum.cc/qttrailers/super_online_trailer.mov if you get
a chance. Lots of action and
mayhem! It should also be popping
up on Sci-Fi Channel later in the
year.
March 27,
2007 - You've
watched the Descent now find out
a new kind of monstrous terror to
be filming soon
A new Canadian
independent feature film will be
shot in Delta, British Columbia
titled 'They Came from
the Attic' which is in
the same vein as 'The
Descent' of a group of
creatures living up in an attic
of an old creepy house in the
woods as a new family moves into
the house rooming with an
eccentric family but don't
realise what's up there as they
feast on people and wildlife. The
film will be shot this May the
1st till May 11th and it will
co-star our very own moderator
Greg Russell Tiderington as well
as the radio news host Quey
Phillips both playing eccentric
siblings.
Speaking of the
radio show our March episode is
up as we even have an interview
with Brinke Stevens.
There is word that a
'Scream 4' is
being announced and Neve Campbell
plans to be killied during the
beginning of this film if it sees
the light of day.
If you remember the
remake of 'Hills Have
Eyes' well the sequel is
playing now in theatre's. Ho hum.
Also Rob Zombie's
remake on 'Halloween'
will be aiming in theatre's on
August 31st of this year if all
goes well. Cast will feature
Malcolm Mc Dowell ('A
Clockwork Orange', 'Cat
People') playing Donald
Pleasance's role as Dr. Loomis,
Scout Taylor-Compton of TV's Charmed
as Jamie Lee Curtis' role of
Laurie Strode, Danielle Harris
from 'Halloween'
4 & 5 playing the role of the
bitchy Annie Brackett, our very
own Chucky from 'Child's
Play' Brad Douriff will
be playing her father who is of
course the head sheriff Leigh
Brackett and 'WCW
Saturday Night' wrestler
Tyler Mae as Michael Myers.
There will be special appearances
by Zombie's wife Sherri Moon ('House
of 1000 Corpses', 'The
Devil's Rejects') as
Michael Myers' mother Deborah,
Dee Wallace ('E.T.: The
Extra Terrestrial', 'The
Howling', 'The
Hills Have Eyes') as
Cynthia Strode along with some
new characters like Lew Temple ('The
Devil's Rejects') as
Noel Kluggs, Danny Trejo ('From
Dusk Till Dawn') as
Ismael Cruz, Udo Kier ('Suspiria',
'Bloodrayne') as
Morgan Walker and William
Forsythe of TV's 'The
Untouchables' as Ronnie
White.

Speaking of remakes
be prepared to see new movies on 'House',
'Prom Night', 'Silent
Night Deadly Night' and 'Hellraiser'
(Which Clive Barker is
writing and Ashley Laurence from
the original flick is rumored to
be in it)
Last but not least
check out moderator Jeff Hayes
revamped site at www.sleepawaycampmovies.com as it's
the best work I've ever seen.
Jeff explianed on his site why
the upcoming sequel 'Return
to Sleepaway Camp' has
been taking so long as Hiltzik
wasn't satisfied with the CGI
work on it and wants it to blend
well with the film. After all,
lots of sequels to cult hits have
been made but were diappointing
one's and we all want to see a
great sequel. But it looks like
that the film is very close to
being finished and we should all
see this film see the light of
day this year.
March 6,
2007 - Oh boy a
monthly radio play by Racks &
Razors
Yes folks we are
doing a 10 minute monthly radio
play by the Racks
& Razors Radio Show as they
already have their first episode
titled 1,042
Tuesday
Written by John M. Sullivan and
directed by Heath Horejda
Starring Quey Phillips, Andrew
Cleminson, Greg Russell
Tiderington and Chad Riley
Sound, credits and recording by
Dave Cockram.
This ongoing series will very
much be like Tales from
the Crypt or Tales
from the Darkside but a
radio show instead of a TV show
with a different story each
month.
Also, soon there will be Racks
& Razors merchandise.
Plus, more news on
Jeff Hayes' recent horror short 'Grandma's
Sloppy Seconds' as it
will at a festival in
DENVER, COLORADO called
Starfest/Horrorfest on April
20-22nd. The film features
special appearances by two 'Sleepaway
Camp' actors Daryl
Wilcher from 'Sleepaway
Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland'
and Felissa Rose from the first
flick.
February 1,
2007 - Wow.
Speaking of shockingly
unnecessary follow-ups...
Look for
Uwe Boll to make 'Bloodrayne
II: Deliverance' with
Natassia Malthe stepping into the
role of Rayne and costarring
Michael Pare.
Boll is also producing a sequel
to the equally tepidly received
horror flick 'Alone in
the Dark' -- Christian
Slater is in talks to reprise his
role as Edward Carnby.
Boll has also completed
writing/directing chores on the
horror flick 'Seed'
starring Will Sanderson and
Boll-regular Michael Pare AND
Boll is also doing a big screen
horror/comedy adaptation of the
video game (and we all know how
successful those are) 'Postal'
-- this one stars Dave Foley,
Seymour Cassel, Zack Ward, David
Huddleston, Verne Troyer, and
even Uwe Boll himself.
Michael Pare is also making
a horror movie (which has
nothing to do with Uwe Boll)
called 'Furnace' for
William Butler which costars
Kelly Stables, Ja Rule, Tom
Sizemore, and Danny Trejo.
Bryan
Norton's award-winning 35mm
supernatural 30-minute short
PENNY DREADFUL will be
released on a special DVD release
from CINEMA IMAGE PRODUCTIONS
this Spring (date to be
announced).
PENNY DREADFUL
stars Emily Vacchiano along
with Betsy Palmer (FRIDAY
THE 13th), Warrington
Gillette (FRIDAY THE
13th PART II), Peter
Dupre (EYES OF A STRANGER),
Tina Krause (MACHINES OF
LOVE AND HATE), and
Sebastian Lacause (CHICAGO).
This DVD release will feature a
commentary track, behind the
scenes featurette, still gallery
and an additional award-winning
short TOMORROW'S BACON
(also by Norton). Keep
checking this site for updates!
The film 'Barricade:
Welcome to Hell' starring
underground horror greats Joe
Zaso ('5 Dead on the
Crimson Canvas') and
Raine Brown ('Horror')
will be out in DVD stores on
February 13th of this month. If
you pre-order it you get a free
signed photo by Zaso himself. Go
to www.cinemaimages.net for more
information.
And last
but not least a new episode of
the Racks
and Razors Radio Show hosted by
Greg Russell Tiderington and
Heath Horejda. Plus a new radio
play will be coming out to the
site starring Greg and directed
by Heath titled '1,042
Tuesday' which will also
star Quey Phillips who is also
the news host for the show,
Andrew Cleminson and Chad Riley.
Come back towards the end of this
month as the play should be up by
then.
January 25,
2007 - If it ain't
broke remake it and if it is,
remake it anyway and in either
case make a sequel or two.
Filming
started September 11, 2006 on 'Return
to the House on Haunted Hill' --
the direct to video sequel to the
1999 remake of the 1959 Vincent
Price classic.
Horror favorite &
Re-Animator legend
Jeffrey Combs is returning for
the sequel, reprising the small
role he had in the first film as
Dr. Vannacutt, a spirit. (Trivia:
Combs was also in the 1990 remake
of Vincent Price's 'The
Pit and the Pendulum').
The Victor Garcia (he did some of
the effects on 'Hellboy')
directed 'Return to The
House on Haunted Hill' also
stars Cerina Vincent (Cabin
Fever, It Waits,
Seven Mummies),
Tom Riley, Laia Gonzalez, Gil
Kolirin, and Amanda Righetti.
Oh...and for all your die hard
Combs fans there is also a new
Reanimator film in the works -- 'The
House of Re-Animator'
and yup, it's going to be another
Suart Gordon feature with Barbara
Crampton, William H. Macy, George
Wendt, and Bruce Abbott.
Combs is also starring in the
remake of 'The Wizard of
Gore' along with Crispin
Glover, star of the Willard
remake. Also on the remake mill
is Brian DePalma's Margot
Kidder/Jennifer Salt 1970 classic
'Sisters' -
heading the cast this time out is
Chloe Sevigny and Stephen Rea.
Look for a remake of
the Lance Henriksen vampire
favorite 'Near Dark'
-- no word yet if Henriksen is
going to appear in the remake but
be sure and look for him in the
third installment of the Pumpkinhead
film franchise
'Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes'.
Also being remade is
the George C. Scott/Trish Van
Devere starring ghost story from
the late 70s 'The
Changeling'...and of
course Rob Zombie's remake of the
classic 'Halloween'.
And speaking of sequels Dario
Argento is filming the third in
his Three Mothers series (the
first two were Suspiria
followed by Infero)
in Turin.
The third is to be
called 'The Third Mother'
and brings together lotsa Argento
personal and professional alumnni
- ex-wife Daria Nicolodi,
daughter Asia Argento, and star
of the original Suspiria Jessica
Harper as well as Argento faves
Udo Kier and Coralina
Cataldi-Tassoni. The screenplay
is by The Toolbox Murders
duo. That's a must see!
Look for Eli Roth's
'Hostel Part II' this
June (the cast includes Heather
Matarazzo, Jordan Ladd, Bijou
Phillips, and Roger Bart) and
there will probably be a third
soon after. Roth is also making
an adaptation of Stephen King's 'The
Cell' somewhere in
there...and did you ever doubt 'Saw
4'?
In the beyond
needless sequel department I have
to mention that 'Alien
vs. Predator 2' is in
the works. Was anyone clamoring
for that one?
Ashley Judd and
Harry Connick Jr. and taking the
horror plunge in BUG about
paranoia...or is that fear
legitimate? This one
is directed by Mr. EXORCIST
himself William Friedkin who has
a mixed record with
some lesser horror efforts
like 1990's THE GUARDIAN.
