The Bewitching Anajette Clewis by Owen Keehnen

Like any good racksandrazors favorite Anjanette Clewis has been a fan of horror for years -- so it seemed destined (and a dream come true) when she stopped watching horror and began starring in it. Several roles came quickly to the stunning actress. She promptly found TV work in such projects as ‘Eye for an Eye’, ‘Cheaters’, and ‘Bikini TV’…but this fright flick lover had her heart set elsewhere. Then lightning struck. She made her film debut in the critically acclaimed Debbie Rochon vehicle ‘American Nightmare’ and followed that up with ‘Suburban Nightmare’. However, in her newest film the gore-geous Anjanette is the nightmare! She has just finished filming her first starring role as serial killer Leandra in ‘Witchcraft 13: Blood of the Chosen’, the newest installment in the wildly popular direct to video series. So may I introduce a wonderful new force in the horror world, and one that is certainly hard to resist, the bewitching Anjanette Clewis.

Owen: So Anjanette, how did the role of Leandra in 'Witchcraft 13: Blood of the Chosen' come about?

Anajanette: I replied to a casting and when I saw the sides I said, "Oh, yeah, that's me!!" She is my alter ego.

Owen: Was it liberating, disturbing, therapeutic, difficult, or delightful to play a serial killer?

Anajanette: Definitely liberating, maybe a little therapeutic!! I think it is a very good role for me.

Owen: Did you have a special method for getting into character?

Anajanette: I just tap into my 'other self'. Leandra is a little sexier than me, definitely a little darker. I bring her out when I want to be bad.

Owen: Are nude scenes uncomfortable for you?

Anajanette: Absolutely not! I am very comfortable with my body.

Owen: You've also appeared in 'American Nightmare' with racksandrazors favorite Debbie Rochon. Tell me a little about your work in that film.

Anajanette: This was my first film ever!! Director Jon Keeyes decided to take a chance on me. I was written into the film to perform my fire show and it doesn’t really work outdoors, so the role just evolved. I really liked working with Debbie; she was really down to earth. I think she did a great job portraying a serial killer.

Owen: And speaking of nightmares --- I see you also made 'Suburban Nightmare'. How was that film experience?

Anajanette: The film wasn't how I imagined it would be. My role in Suburban Nightmare was challenging because I had to do a strip dance. I was so nervous!! Hopefully you can't tell!!

Owen: I've also heard through the grapevine that you are a horror fan...if there was an Anjanette Clewis Ultimate Drive-In horror triple feature what would the three horror flicks be?

Anajanette: You mean I have to choose only 3?? I love a challenge. I really love everything from the classic Dr. Phibes series, to slasher films, to gore, and even Full Moon Picture films like Kiljoy. If I had to choose, I would go with something from the Friday the 13th series, maybe a Halloween, and cap it off with Witchcraft 13 (of course!!).

Owen: Anjanette - as a horror fan what gets to you and why? Is it zombies, witches, vampires, werewolves, aliens, creatures, psychos...

Anajanette: It really just depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Vampires if I want to be romanced, Werewolves if I wish to be ravaged, psychos always, aliens almost never. Life is fantasy and you have to be diverse.

Owen: So tell me what your career plan is --- has this been your dream since you were a kid -- is there some ultimate goal -- a dream role --- or are you just enjoying the ride and seeing where it will take you? What's the big picture for you?

Anajanette: My passion is acting, mostly because I can be anyone else but me. Where that will take me, who knows. I'm just along for the ride. My dream roles, of course, are in horror films. Horror is not drama, or romance, or comedy, it's all of them wrapped up in one entity. They are the most fun.

Owen: What other projects do you have lined up in the future?

Anajanette: I have a couple things in the works right now, nothing set in stone. I would really love to work with Director Mel House again. He has done great things with Witchcraft 13. I like his style; he is a visionary that kicks ass!!

Owen: What scares you in real life?

Anajanette: Ew, bugs!! You can come at me all day long with a hatchet, but throw a cricket on me and I will shriek!!
