AMBER
ALERT TALKING WITH ACTRESS AMBER CRAWFORD
by Owen Keehnen
Amber
Crawford is red hot. This young actress
has already starred in a number of
upcoming features including her very
physical role as Marquez in 'Broken' from
Enigma Factory required her to do her own
stunts and firearms work. This physically
demanding work also is crucial to Amber's
upcoming role as Freya in 'The Legend of
the Red Reaper', a role which she will
also soon reprise in the prequel 'The
Legend of the Broken Peace'. She has also
finished lensing her role as Sara in the
very cool sounding Quanrantined
Production 'The Evil Within' and has
several other films in the works
including 'Miami Ghost Tale', 'Unrest',
and 'Voosha Day'. Yowsah! This is one
busy woman, but she was kind enough to
take time from her very busy career to
give us this exclusive www.racksandrazors.com
interview. |

O: Hi Amber, let's
start the www.racksandrazors.com readers
off with a visual.
Can you describe the room or place where you are
answering these questions?
A: Aw, geez, ur such a typical
male! LOL! I'm sitting in my bedroom on my MAC
laptop in my red Playboy bikini, I just got back
from the beach. And it's March.
Don'tcha just love Florida!
O: When did you first realize
you were meant for performing?
A: I was 10, and just started
going to the Boys & Girls Club after school.
The Drama Club put on their first play, and I
thought, That's what I want to do! So I marched
up to the director and told him he had to put me
in his next play. The rest is history!
O: I want to hear about your
role as Sara in the upcoming Quarantined
Production of 'The Evil Within'.
Give me a teaser for the movie that will make it
irresistable to the readers.
A: Sara is married to William
Harper. He is an avid art collector. On his 30th
birthday, he receives a painting. Wrapped in
brown paper, there's no return address & it's
not from anyone at the party. Years earlier, a
painting was stolen from the Museum of Art. A
painting that was made by a serial killer
hundreds of years ago. His paintings became
famous after he died because he used to use
victim's blood to paint with. We find out that
William's great great grandfather is that serial
killer. Evil is passed down from generation to
generation. Can you fight the Evil Within?
O: Good premise. In the very
well-received 'Broken' from
Enigma Factory you do all sorts of stunts and
firearms work. Which was the most challenging for
you?
A: The gun training was a piece
of cake. My friend took me to the range twice, he
is Special-Ops, so I was lucky to learn from him,
and since I had no experience before, it was
easier to learn because I kept my mind open to
what he was telling me. I'm also a great shot, so
lookout boys! And the stunts were relatively
easy, I've taken ballet since age 7, and still do
take it, so I'm really limber and martial arts
isall very fluid as well. So, I'd have to say the
most challenging was filming for 8-10 hours in
the basement of that hospital with no air, no
ventilation, in the dead of summer, in thigh-high
patent leather boots and rubbery-plastic purple
pants. And then going to the air-conditioned
makeup room to get freshened up. Yup, I
definitely got sick from that one!
O: Did that very physical role
in 'Broken' get you addicted to
action parts, give you new respect for the people
who do them, affirm that you could do them, or
give you more than enough action experience for a
decade or so?
A: Oh yeah, I'm totally
addicted. I'm an adreniline junkie to begin with.
I used to love roller coastrers, but I've been
skydiving twice and nothing tops that! I love
physical things, I'm a gym rat and very active. I
am also psyched to find that I'm really good at
stunts and fight sequences. I attribute my
success to my teachers. But there's also that
inner drive you have to have. And your body MUST
be in shape to handle it. Without that inner core
strength, your muscles will fail you. Everyone
out there in the practice field with the
exception of one was able to handle the training,
even if they had no experience, because they
either work-out, or do yoga, or in some fashion
have their body in shape. With all the action
films that are out there, everyone thinks it's so
easy. Oh, I'll just pick up a sword and I'll kick
ass..It's a lesson for them when they find it's
not that simple. It really is a skill that has to
be acquired.
O: Okay, so now tell me a little
bit about 'Broken'. The trailer
looks awesome.
A: Thanks! A bolt of lightning,
a flash.. Bonnie wakes out of her sleep. She is
drop-kicked by Marquez and kidnapped by Duncan's
gang. Can Bonnie escape her past? She can''t run
forever...
O: Tell me about your role as
Freya in the upcoming movie 'Legend of
the Red Reaper'.
A: I fell in love with Freya
after Matt sent me the script. Kim Pritekel is
such an amazing writer, her characters have all
these layers, and she really makes them 3
dimensional. Freya left her family when she was a
girl, old enough to see that how she was brought
up was wrong. Her father was leader to the group
called the Clans, people who pillaged from the
humans when they were attacked by the Demons. She
ran away and Andre, a Reaper leader, falls in
love with her. She becomes a Reaper and Andre
& Freya have a 300 year romance. Reapers live
to be about 5-600. So she has this inner valiant
light within, to stand up for what is right and
fight for what she believes in. She is a strong,
skilled, brilliant warrior and woman. The thing I
love about her is that she is trained to fight
with anything. She is mainly unarmed, and uses
other's weapons agianst them. She has a bow &
arrow of her own, but also fights with
broadswords and staff, her hands, anything around
she'll just grab. I love it!
O: Give me a teaser for the
scare-sounding movies 'Unrest'
(and your role as Julie Cosgrove) as well as 'Miami
Ghost Tale'.
A: Julie is Jason's girlfriend.
Jason wakes up to find Julie not there. His house
is trashed. Did her ex, the one who keeps
stalking her and not leave her alone, break in?
Jason's always had insomnia, but this is really
wearing on him. This ex situation is really
bothering him. He installs security cameras
inside the house. He wakes up to find Julie dead.
He watches the security video..
O: Do you have any other
upcoming projects you would like to let the www.racksandrazors.com readers
know about?
A: I am flying up to NY to work
on a film called Voosha Day. It
has the Sopranos guys in it.
Fun! Dean Production Group is also putting in the
works the Prequel called The Legend of
the Broken Peace. Kim Pritekel is
writing the novel now, and the book should be
done by October, then The Legend of the
Red Reaper comes out in November. Genius
Marketing! The prequel tells the background of my
character Freya, and her hubby Andre, played by
Hollywood hottie Christian Boeving (Batman
& Robin, Kingdom of Heaven,
Alias).
O: Do you have a career
definition for success or how you will know you
have made it?
A: Yes. When I don't have to
have another job just to support my acting
carreer! lol!
O: Okay, we're pulling the car
into the Amber Crawford Drive In. What three
horror flicks are on the triple bill for tonight
and what goodies are they going to be serving up
at the concession stand?
A: Wolf Creek, The
Silence of the Lambs, and Alfred
Hitchcock's Rear Window.
As far as goodies, I'm a health freak, I eat all
organic, and my food staples consist of chicken,
fish, salad, and fruit & veggies. So let's
say this is a party at my house, and it's my
cheat day, so in that case there will be van Gogh
Double Chocolate or Espresso Vodka, Cristal or
Louie Rodiere champagne, strawberries, organic
pizza, home-made rice crispy squares and my mom's
peach cobbler. Yumm!!!
O: What makes you go psycho in
real life?
A: The male ego. I have a
problem with guys who are that shallow. Grow up.
Respect women. They have an opinion & just
because it wasn't yours, are you really that
immature? Abuse of children and animals. American
greed. This really is the Land of Opportunity,
but this collaboration of the Food Companies
intertwined and owned by the Drug Companies in
association with the Trade Associations along
with the FDA & FTC to put chemicals in our
food to make our society sick and obese to
perscribe chemical drugs to only get sicker and
kill our own people while the CEO's, Presidents,
and govenment get rich is sickening.
O: What scares you in real life?
A: Well, we all know we are
going to go sometime. I think ereryone has a fear
of how they die. Mine is the fear of burning to
death. I wouldn't want to experience the pain of
my flesh melting off my bones. I've often
wondered where that fear comes from. Is it the
premonition of how we are going to die? Maybe a
death from
a past life? Not sure. But I do know that I want
my funeral to be something different than the
norm. I wish mine could be like what the vikings
used to do. Build a funeral pyre and set it
aflame and send it out into the ocean as the sun
sets. |
