PERFECT FITTS: Talking With Actress/Model Kristi Fitts by Owen Keehnen

Well, I've little doubt that Michigan native Kristi Fitts is probably the first contender for Mrs. America that has ever also been a Scream Queen of the Month (and a Racks and Razors Interviewee) in the same year. It's all about having an eclectic resume. The successful model has also found the time recently to make a couple horror movies. (We love that!) She'll soon be seen in 'The Dread' which debuts on Halloween night as well as the very intriguing 'Buddy BeBop vs. The Living Dead'. Kristi is also a lot of fun as evidenced in this exclusive www.racksandrazors.com interview.

Okay Kristi, start us off with a visual and give us if you will a description of the room where you're answering these questions?

It's almost 8 p.m. on a Sunday night, and I am working in my home office sitting at my computer wearing my flannel pj's... why?...because I can!:) I know...not really that sexy, is it???

I want to hear about your work in the upcoming film 'The Dread'. Can you give us a teaser that will make the movie irresistible?

My nude scene...just kidding...:) I am the "Admitting Nurse"...I have to admit a little Hellion into Briarcliff Mental Institution because it appears he slaughtered his own parents.. As far as the real teaser...well, do you remember The Sixth Sense? Not everything is what it appears to be. Who is REALLY wreaking havoc at Briarcliff? Muhahahaha!!!

How did your role in 'Buddy Bebop vs. The Living Dead' come about?

I was selected to play 'The Waitress' by the director, Justin Cash Kirkpatrick. He had worked on the crew of The Dread and decided to branch out on his own and write and direct his own horror film...I guess he thought it would be a comical role for me...it is a pretty funny role....remember Flo from the TV show 'Alice' back in the day?...yeah, she's like that.

Can you give us a plot synopsis of the film?

Disc jockey Alan Freed coined the phrase "rock 'n roll" to undermine the segregation of popular music into black and white. From its beginnings, rock 'n roll has been associated with youth, rebellion, and anti-establishment. It also has been associated with the advances in American civil liberties, as well as a defining musical revolution.
The government has been conducting secret tests aimed at pioneering space-flight, by using a series of controlled atomic explosions the goal is to successfully propel a spacecraft into the cosmos, as a result very high levels of radiation are expelled. The project has been classified as Orion.
There has been a problem.... Extremely high levels of altered radioactive material have leaked outside protected sectors. The possible result of this accident could be catastrophic. A temporary cover story is leaked to the local press, but it's only a matter of time before there won't be any way to hide it.
It's 1956 and anytown USA is about to become anything but normal. Four friends are out having a typical evening of unwinding at the area's social hub, the roller-rink, a place filled with magic moments and meaningful memories. Bobby, a rebel wrapped in leather and blue jeans, the very definition of cool. Rosie, she's Bobby's girl, tough as nails but sweet as cotton candy. Jimmy, a closet bookworm just trying to fit in and the new guy in town. And Peggy Sue, cuter than a pail full of kittens, along for the ride and in over her head.
Performing live at the roller-rink is a yet unknown musical marvel, one of the first real rock 'n rollers, Buddy Holly himself. Buddy is in trouble, he's been on a losing streak and owes a bundle he doesn't have to the local hard-nosed book-maker.... and it's time to pay or pray.
On the knife's edge of town the dead have begun to rise, re-animated and un-living, a terrible side-effect of dangerous experimentation. The music and squeals of joy coming from inside the roller-rink draws them near with a powerful hunger.
Soon they'll be inside and then there's no stopping them. Soon all hell will break loose in an unimaginable cornucopia of gore, violent grotesqueness the likes of which no one has imagined. Soon they'll have killed every last man, woman and child in this once quaint, quiet little town. Soon, a man and his brand new '55 Strat Sunburst will make a stand....
Can Buddy and his rag-tag team of survivors quell the Zombie onslaught? Will Buddy live to see his first #1 record?
All these questions and more will be answered in; BUDDY BEBOP vs. THE LIVING DEAD. Please check out more at

What perks accompanied your title of Scream Queen of the Month for August 2007?

Well, I met you fine people! I have gotten a lot more popular in this horror genre...it's funny...not that I don't love horror movies, because I do! I just never thought that I would be involved in making them one day...

Do you have any other upcoming news or roles you would like the https://racksandrazors.com/ readers to know about?

Well, I actually just received the title of Mrs. Kalamazoo County, and I am running for the title of Mrs. Michigan in March....how is that for a stretch??? From Scream Queen to Mrs. Michigan? Wow!!!

What was the first movie you saw that scared you enough to make you sleep with the lights on?

I was about 4 or 5 years old and my older sister was babysitting me....she made me watch a movie that had these 'monkey-like' monsters living in the fireplace or something??? Gosh, I wish I knew what the name of it was...Oh, and then there was, of course, The Exorcist!!! Ugh!

We're pulling the car into the Kristi Fitts Drive In.
a. What three horror flicks are on the triple bill for tonight?

Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Others & The Sixth Sense...I KNOW they are not total gore, but they are brilliantly written scary movies!

b. What goodies are they going to be serving up at the concession stand?

Pizza Rolls, Diet Coke and Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

c. And what sort of behavior will absolutely not be tolerated from the patrons?

NO talking! I HATE that!!!!!!!!!!!! ( you can scream, though;)

Vampires, witches, zombies, mummies, creatures, aliens -- what horror class of character does it for you Kristi and why?

I LOVE ghost stories!!! I have no idea why...I just have a fascination...I am hooked on the TV Show, Most Haunted...I am literally glued to the set looking for orbs and listening for supernatural voices with the volume turned up all the way on my TV!

What scares you in real life?

Dumb stuff...like spiders...

What was the best costume you ever had for Halloween?

As a kid, I was always an Angel (because I am a Preacher's kid:). Sometimes I got to be a gypsy and got to wear a lot of make-up....I thought I looked HOTT! I was never anything gory...Now, I still like to dress up and be glamorous like Marilyn Monroe...

Do you have plans for Halloween this year?

Yes!!! Here is where I plug my new movie The Dread... It premieres here in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the 'Little Theatre' on WMU's campus Halloween night with cast and crew in attendance! It is also showing in select theaters across the Midwest... Hope to see you there!
