A Deadly Blessing: Chatting With Upcoming Scream Queen Nicole Blessing by Owen Keehnen

Gorgeous green-eyed redhead Nicole Blessing is determined to make a name for herself in the horror film world...and she's off to a good start. This descendant of Davey Crockett (honestly, we wouldn't lie!) has solid film, TV, and stage experience. We're eager to see her breakout role as Tracy Loomis in Jason Stephenson's upcoming zombie flick 'Doomed to Consume'. Nicole is following that with the sci-fi horror/adventure 'Vengeance Comes', and this busy Miss also has several other films on her resume or in the works such as 'Door to Door' from TMJ Productions and the intriguingly titled 'Deathbed'. As icing on the cake and a hint of great blessings to come Nicole was named Scream Queen for October by the SQ site. We were lucky enough to talk with her only a few days before Halloween.

Nicole, great to hear from you. Why don't you start by giving the Racks and Razors readers a visual and describe the room where you are answering these questions?

I'm in my living room. It has hardwood floors, a big window, two dark blue leather couches, a TV, and my two dogs rolling around on the floor.

Only a few days until Halloween. Are you dressing up and if so what's your costume?

I am dressing up. I'm leaning more towards sexy witch at this point. Last year I was a vampire queen, and I wanted to try something different this year.

Did you always want to be an actress?

Yes

So tell me about your recently completed role as Traci Loomis in Jason Stephenson's upcoming zombie opus 'Doomed to Consume'?

It was awesome was working with NFTS. Jason is a great director to work with. He's very down to earth, and wants to make sure the actors are happy and having fun on the project. Jon Warner is an amazing editor. He's put a lot of work into the film. Traci Loomis is a bad ass character. She was really fun to play. Traci is very take charge and you don't want to get in her way. The trailer for it is up on the website "http://www.doomedtoconsume.com ". The film will be hitting the horror festival circuit after the musical score is finished.

I also want to hear about your role in the upcoming horror flick 'Vengeance Comes'.

I'm very excited about my role. If you like Underworld, the Matrix, and X-Men, then you'll love Vengeance Comes. I play Cindy who's a smart ass that puts up with nothing. The movie is b\cf1 ased on the Paranormal Romance book written by: Venetta Doughty. Look for it in bookstores near you March 2007. There's a really cool excerpt from the book on the website. http://www.venpro.cjb.net

How did you title as Scream Queen of the Month come about? Have there been any perks assoicated with it?

Someone nominated me and they thought I was an awesome Scream Queen, and what better month to have the title than October. One of the biggest perks is that my niece thinks I'm really cool now. I also get to do cool interviews.

Do you have any other projects pending that you would like to tell the Racks and Razors readers about?

I recently finished a short called "Deathbed" for an international film competition. You can view it at http://www.intensitymedia.org/deathbed/DeathBed.mov. I play a nurse with a hidden agenda. I did a short film for TMJ Productions called "Door To Door", which will be completed soon. It's Ed Linder's homage to the twilight zone. You can find out more about it at "http://www.tmjproductions.com" . Keep checking my website for updates.

What does it for you horrorwise Nicole, and why -- zombies, vampires, werewolves, psychos, witches, aliens, creatures, etc?

Werewolves and psychos are the scariest, because they can be anyone. You don't see them coming. I like witches, and would love to play one. My friend, Alma, and I want to one day play witch sisters.

Do you recall the first movie to scare the shit out of you?

Dracula was the first movie to really scare me. I was 4, and my sisters let me watch it. After that I wouldn't go anywhere without wearing a cross.

Okay, we're pulling the car into the Nicole Blessing Drive-In...what three horror flicks are on the triple feature and what goodies are they going to be serving up at the concession stand?

Shaun Of The Dead - Seriously who didn't like this movie; blood, gore, zombies, humor. Ju-On - Creepy little dead kids are just freaky and disturbing. The Birds - You can't have a Drive-In without a Hitchcock movie. He was the master of suspense. You never knew why the birds starting a killing rampage. I'll watch it every time it's on. At the concession stand there will be gummy worms, Coke, giant sweet tarts, milk duds, and chocolate truffles.

What makes you go psycho in real life?

When people are cruel to animals. If you're going to be mean to your pet or not take care of it, don't get one.

I couldn 't agree more. What scares you in real life?

Rats. I absolutely hate them.

Thanks so much for the interview Nicole and much continued success with your career.
