Hey Roxanna, you're known as one of the top
screamers in the horror world. What's your secret
to emitting a truly blood-curdling shriek?
My secret is to
make believe I'm getting a bikini wax.....Or
imagine myself get chopped into bloody pieces...
either or......
Roxanna, what
was the best part of being a Tromette?
The best
part of being a tromette is ..wait..... I'm a
tromette???? kidding! Working with Lloyd Kaufman,
he's tres cool...
You were also
a regular on Troma's Edge TV. Tell me a little
about what exactly your work with that project
entailed.
Oh boy,
that was an experience- I played girl who smokes
cigarettes and is sort of a bombshell type... and
has a love for ferrets.... that was a long time
ago... I barely remember the episode story line ,
if there was any! I do remember The Naked Cowboy
was in that episode and he kept ordering
lunchmeat and potato chips on our break... I
found that vomitotious..... but The Naked Cowboy
is a nice guy.....
Troma is known
for some fairly wacky doings, what was the
strangest most surreal experience you ever had in
Tromaland?
Well, The
first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival was
with Troma and I had no idea what I was getting
into... The two bedroom apartment had , like 40
people staying there. I was , honestly,
horrified. But , I managed to take it as a once
in a lifetime experience and checked my high
maintenance ways at the door... for a few
days.... I remember troma would march up and down
the Croissette yelling proposterous things and
the local french would actually dig it! Except
the Carlton Hotel.... those were crazy crazum
days!
You also
played Stephanie in the 2002 horror flick 'SCARECROW' directed by your husband, Emmanuel Itier. First
off were you two involved before you began >
working on the film?
Yes, we
had been dating for a few months and actually
during filming , I was planning our wedding ,
which was 2 months away. In most of the scenes ,
if I look a little blank in the face , it's
because I was contemplating what color flowers to
have at the wedding....
Did working
together in that close of proximity and under
those circumstances test or cement the
relationship?
Actually,
it brought us closer together and I got to see
Emmanuel in a different light, as a director.
He's very easy to work for!
What was the
most difficult scene in
'SCARECROW' for you to film?
The
Cornfield shoot at night was terribly gross!
There were small bugs everywhere and I'm not a
nature sort of person.. I like the city BECAUSE
there are no bugs... so that was difficult for
me...
So how come
you have been laying low since then? No more
movies! Are you waiting for the right project or
(gasp!) have you retired from horrorland?
We had a
baby about 2 years ago, so he has been taking up
alot of my time. His name is Felix and is quite
the devil! My husband is directing an upcoming
horror film called "DEMON PRIDE" ... I
suppose I will wiggle my way in! Also, I am a
journalist with my husband. I cover for him
occasionally, so that takes up time , as well....
You are also
an interviewer - I've seen a couple of your
pieces with Will Smith and Eva Mendes. What
celebrity has impressed you the most and the
least? Come on, name names.
Well,
Mark Wahlberg impressed me because I interviewed
him twice with a 2 year gap in between and he
remembered me and my name and that I hail from
Providence, RI. He's from Boston, so that might
be why. George Clooney is super duper nice.....
Cher is such a down to earth lovely lady... Tom
Cruise is a gentleman.... Donald Sutherland was
the most cranky person I have interviewed. Dianne
Keaton was super snotty towards me.... I don't
know why - I was very polite....
In addition to
that you are also adept at music and fashion
design as well. If you were to rank your passions
what would the list look like?
Fashion,
interior design, acting, music, cooking... when
you are an artist anything goes- you can apply
your artistry anywhere , whether it is cooking or
making a dress. Some people like to just do one
thing- I'm happiest when I do a little of
everything.
What was the
first movie you saw that scared the shit out of
you?
'SAW'- I
have boycotted anything SAW because I needed
therapy after I watched the movie.
We're pulling
the car into the Roxanna Bina Drive In. What 3
movies are on the horror triple bill tonight and
what goodies are they going to be serving up at
the concession stand?
I like
campy horror movies- things you can make fun of:
Scream, Scarecrow, Slayer I love Reeses Pieces
and ICEE.
What scares
you in real life?
My real
life- raising a baby in a fupe world
What makes you
go psycho in real life?
People
who don't use their blinkers, I need anger
management when I drive! people who are
late....people mean to animals and children
What are you
the most grateful for?
Me and my
family's health |
