A giant alligator that is big in size by dumping chemicals in the sewers is causing problems in a small lake with some locals missing due to this.
Detective David Hodges (Joseph Bolonga) is trying to find the missing clues and suspects that's just what it is. However, people don't believe him when he tries to start a planned carnival taking place there lead by a greedy owner Vincent Brown (Steve Railsback).
Hodges gets help from Officer Rich Harmon (Woody Brown) and a bounty hunter Hawk Hawkins (Richard Lynch) to try to snuff this reptile out but this beast almost seems indesctructable.

Okay when I was watching this flick I had high hopes that there were discussions brought up on what happened in the first flick since at the end of the first one another baby alligator arrived in the sewer. Never mentions anything like that so it made me wonder if it was a plot on it's own. This was very disappointing in which I will get to the story of all of this.
The start of this was confusing but apparently it was two people lead by a tycoon Vincent Brown is dumping chemicals into a sewage system as this leaves a hint an alligator down there will get big because if it like in the first one.
Next up two Mexican fishermen are in the lake there in which the camera pans into the lake by creeping up on them in which this was supposed to have been suspenseful but it misses and looked way too cheesy. At the same time you get the idea that a reptile is preparing for an attack.
The next day Vincent plans a carnival event and people try to prevent him into doing so by disappearances of people in which this leaves off a vibe that this person is greedy and evil. An okay touch to put into a horror flick but nothing too special either.
During these situations we spot a little boy playing with a beach ball and it lands into the lake which the scene leaves a sinking feeling that something is about to happen to this ball. Yet the lake looked man made and not effective enough for these situations to look creepy at all.
The head detective,
David Hodges heads some as it's his birthday and is hardly at home due to his work in which there's moments with him and his wife Christine which offers dry humor like his food being over done cause he's not home for dinner on time and moments like that. The situations seemed to look fairly natural between the two of them.
David has a heated discussion with
Chief Clarence Speed on the matters of an alligator terrorising a small town in which this looked powerfully done.
When David hunts down Vincent in which he is busy with running a wrestling tournament the wrestlers didn't look convincing in their performances. Also there was supposed to be a humorous moment between David and Officer Rich Harmon but this falls flat big time.
I was wondering as to when we get to the alligator terrorising situations again but it does happen before you know it as a homeless man calls out to his friend which seemed mildly chilling that this beast will pay him a visit as there's a nice terrorising shot on what had happened. Later on you feel sad for this poor guy losing his best friend. However the performance on this needed to look more natural to really feel this bum's pain.
Redneck hunters lead by Hawk Hawkins are introduced towards Vincent and he acts pigheaded about it all and Hawk shows them what he can do which looked powerful even if the discussions were corny.
Meanwhile David and Rich are in the sewers tracking down the gator in which there's nice shots on all of this as well as perfect action moments on those two trying to get away from this killer reptile. I had to admit that this kept me glued watching and wondering if these two will escape safely. If you want to see this beast crashing through a sewage wall it's got that too.
Hawk and his team go in the sewage to try and kill it while David tries to warn them about this thing being too powerful and of course these rednecks act ignorant about it all. Due to all of this it leaves a chill down my spine while watching this and having a feeling that the terror will strike them.
Alot of strong terror happens here with some of them trying to reach to the top of the sewage system trying to get out but the ladder collapses. It made me think that they were all doomed. I do admit that this scene looked well done which was a pointer for this clunker being saved from bombing.
Vincent of course lets the carnival open for the locals as there's good shots on the performances along with the customers going on rides and moments like that. Of course we get a sinking feeling that this is about to change.
Vincent is on a ferris wheel with Mayor Anderson and something deadly happens as this left me an impression that Vincent isn't only greedy but a maniac as well. I hoped the croc will get him for this.
A nice shot on the reptile getting out of the lake and heading towards the carnival with a hissing sound. Although that this was supposed to be terrorising I was laughing as all of this looked fake to watch. Yet, people run out in a frenzy which left me in suspense wondering if they will all survive. This beast knocks people over with it's tail but it doesn't look as powerful like in the orginal and cheesily done.
Things do look intense when David, Rich and Hawkins is on a boat to try and snuff the gator but this monster knocks over the boat as this made me watch carefully wondering as to who will be eaten alive and who will be rescued if they will be rescued or not. Nice underwater shots on the reptile terrorising. Yet, seeing this thing approaching for the kill you could tell that it wasn't real. Now the gator in the first didn't either but this one looked phonier.
The final moments looked fair when David and Rich enter the home of this alligator in the sewage system and their plans on snuffing it out in which horror and action fans may find these final situations amusing.
Bottom line is that this flick was made on a much lower budget with a weak plot and bad performances along with some poor writing. It seemed more like a real bad remake than a sequel and a very unorganised one too. If they're to make a sequel, do discuss on situations that happened in the original. I can see why this film had a very limited release in which it was more recognised by being in selected video stores as well as on TV. It's totally forgettable. However I saved it from bombing as there were the odd fun touches but not many of them. Avoid this one if you can.

The acting is
in stale shape for the most part but however lead actor Joseph Bologna (Detective David Hodges) seemed to pull his role off well by being serious and tough whenever he needed to behave like that. Shows off a nice charming type of attitude. Also has alot of energy when trying to get away from the terrors in the sewer from the alligator. Yes he was a true character actor.
Dee Wallace (Christine Hodges) struts herself well as the wife showing off a kindness in her role since she's very good by being this way. Also has a nice concentrated atttiude as a scientist due to her profession within her character. Also really drew some energy when trying to help out on a mission.
Woody Brown (Officer Rich Harmon) seemed like a natural ham in his role as the lawman. Offers a nice alerted attitude as well as being hyped up whenever he says anything. He really tried to get into his character as best as possible and had the right appeal for all of this.
Holly Gagnier (Sheri Anderson) offered a decent sharp attitude and really knew on how to react to stuff. Tried to show off some aggressions but at times she's low on energy especially when she punches someone which looked lacking. She made her supporting role memorable though.
Steve Railsback (Vincent Brown) was another fine supporting cast member in which he really drew across as those evil greedy types by how he interacts with others. He knew his stuff big time. Also had the right wicked looks for all of this which is a plus.
Bill Daily (Mayor Anderson) did an average job with his tense attitude as well as being soft spoken. He seemed to make his role memorable somewhat and had the right middle aged looks for this type of role. He offered a nice seriousness and soft like behavior.
Brock Peters (Chief Clarence Speed) was perfect in his role playing a no bullshit attitude with his stern and emotionless and seriousness expressions. He really studied this role inside out. Was great with his aggressions whenever he spoke.
Richard Lynch (Hawk Hawkins) now he is a tough one to forget even if he appears quarter way through the story. Shows off a great redneck bounty hunter attitude. Also has the type of speaking that sounded tough. He was fast with his actions like throwing a knife and other devices. He was a true force of nature. Bless his soul.

This flick didn't have much gore in it at all compared to the first flick. Just shows a chomped off leg in the lake but it looked phony.

Jack K. Tillar composes for this piece as it sounds like direct-to-video synthesizer type music. However, it was cheesy but enjoyable type of music. Especially for the opening credits with high pitched metal clanging types of sounds. Also some decent adventureous scene's with the alligator attacking as it's fast sounding along with high icy high pitched sounds. So it's not too bad at all. Just not big time type material. Only downfall is that there's odd sad sounding music during the upsetting moments which sounded a bit rough though.
A nice closing credtis song "Lookin' Over My Shoulder" performed by Kathryn Taylor which had an 80's cheese type of motive. Nice synthesizer playing which works in well by at times the vocalisisng is a bit off. Yet, I dug it!!!!

(After Vincent Brown is eaten alive) Billy Boy Hawkins: Damn! He didn't pay me!
