A maniac Andrew Bird (Jason Carter) is murdering innocent victims based on Poe stories in which Det. Burt Williams (Bill Vincent) has been trying to resolve for 3 years.
His students however decides to go to the home of the killer as they are in for a terrifying surprise
.

An impressive start with a woman leaving to go home in the late night and being cautious as to what lurks there in which this kept me in mild suspense with this scenario happening.
While we roll along there's breaking news on some missing cases as well as murders which doesn't look too shabby while watching this. However, things looked slightly cheesy with two parents discussing on their missing daughter sobbing. Not terrible by any means though. It does look disturbing when their daughter is tortured in a room with this TV on and the Poe killer Andrew Bird in the room in which there's good camera shots focusing as to what he's doing to her. A nice moment for a slasher flick.
Det. Burt Williams gets together with his students as he discusses to them about the Poe murders and so fourth like that in which he has a lighthearted personality when talking about this along with them talking aboput planning to discover an area where some of the murders took place. This seemed to work into the story pretty well.
Meanwhile his daughter Det. Kris Williams and her partners in crime tries to find some missing cases on the killings and trying to track down as to where this mysterious killer will pop up next in which the conversations looked good and strong as well as some outgoing attitudes on one of them. Yes this seemed to look fairly well done for a zgrade flick.
Kris and her people go to an area to track down the killer and boy it's action packed when they're trying to be cautious we see this maniac attacking them or some of them spotting something gruesome along with a black cat walking by which was a nice touch since Poe stories always had this type of feline.
Kris is kidnapped by Andrew in which things grow mildly intense on what he does to her including a swinging blade slowly going down towards her which looked creepy and making you wonder if someone will save her on time before it's too late.
While these moments occur, Burt's students decides to check out the old battered up house in which Andrew resides in with a thunderstorm happening as this is a perfect touch along with showing your stupid everyday kids wanting some action and not realising on what they're getting into.
The killing spree happens big time when they check out the property as well as going into the house. To top it off we have some terrific forestry with Andrew chasing after his victim. Plus we spot some mist and some light shining through the dark forestry. This was a nice zgrade horror touch to it all.
Before the closing credits there's a sad moment between Kris and her father which seemed to fit in an okay fashion but it could've used a little more work to make it seem believeable.
Bottom line is that this indie flick was made on a shoestring budget in which you get the impression that it's going to be bad but however I was quite surprised as the makers did an impressive job by making this an entertaining one for what they had. Some of the moments with the teenage kids looking for their death bed reminded me on a similar 1987 cult flick titled Slaughterhouse as well as the odd elements of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's worth checking out but be aware that it's very low budget. If you're in the mood for a higher rated flick then you may want to skip this one for now.

The acting seemed to flow quite nicely for a zgrade flick but only certain one's that stood out worth mentioning such as Anita La Selva (Det. Kris Williams) stole the show with her performance as a tough as nails officer and does it with great style showing off her serious nobullshit behavior. Also does fairly okay when she is a victim with her screaming behavior. Had the great looks and motive to portray in this type of role.
Jason Carter (Andrew Bird) was great as the Poe impersonator in which he has a great gravelly and cold speaking type of voice. Also shows off some great insane energy when going in for the kill brining the energy to the extreme greatly. He seemed to know this part inside out.
Bill Vincent (Det. Burt Williams
) really was a natural ham. He really brought on a light headed, bubbly and humoress behavior. Plus made his role believeable by making you want to be around him in which he was perfectly likeable by how he interacts towards another person. Yup he knew his craft by portraying this type of character.
Bonner C. Upshaw III (Agent Shean Michaels) brought on some nice spunk and enthusiasm as well as being well alerted for when he needed to behave that way. He had a nice thrusting action and energy in which he knew on how to get into the action of the crimes that were happening around him.
Spice Williams-Crosby (Let. Grace Andrews) had a real effective supporting role and knew her stuff with her gravelly voice as well as showing some great energy and enthusiasm when she gets to the point with a situation. She was a right choice for this type of role.
Dee Wallace (Mrs. Makepiece) had a brief role in this piece in which she was a bit rough with what she did but seemed to bring it out later on with her sobbing attitude as she always does a good job in any performances that I've seen her in.

A woman is being stripped down while being tortured with breasts exposed.

A head is bloodily stabbed.
Decapitated head is revealed in a bowling machine.
Dead body is revealed with insides torn out.
Naked corpses are revealed with their body cut in half.

John Roome composes this piece and does a nice job especially with the opening credits leaving a perfect dark and creepy feel to it all with rusty sounds and elements like that. He also does some nice mild screeching sounds for the most of the scene's with low piano sounds too. Many echoey tappings here and there throughout the story which was nicely done. Along with all of this there's some tin tapping for the final moments occuring in the story.
