Hello
Eileen, thanks for chatting with us. Can you
start us off at Racks and Razors with a visual
and describe the room where you are answering
these questions?
Dear Owen, I am writing in
a pink room with fairy wallpaper, a huge black
chandelier, lilac shag-pile squishing between my
toes and a lush, plush chaise longue.
Why don't you
tell me a little bit about your role as Victoria
in the new film 'Evil Calls'?
What attracted you to the project and can you
give us a teaser that is going to make it
irresistible to fans?
To tell
the truth it was a nice little film to work on,
but I can't remember too much about it as it was
rather along time ago. Quite an odd mix of people
on set including Robin Asquith, Rik Mayall, Jason
Donovan and Norman Wisdom!! I wasn't sent a copy
of the film, so I can't really comment on how it
turned out. Richard Driscoll who produced, wrote.
directed and starred in it is sulking with me -
HIS LOSS!!!
You also have
another new film due called 'Timo
Rose's Beast'. How did your
participation as Lydia as well as your role as an
associate producer of the film come about?
I was
offered the part by an American producer as well
as involvement as an associate producer.
With
the help of Nigel Wingrove you started Redemption
Films, a horror distribution company. What was
your original plan of action for the company and
how has that evolved into what is now known as
Salvation Film.
The
original idea was to promote and distribute
horror films by up and coming directors. Also we
re-licensed classics by directors such as Mario
Barba and Jean Roland, fighting tooth and nail
against the censorship of James Firman who was
head of the BBFC at that time. Of course things
have evolved over the years, but we still hold
true to our original aim to give lovers of the
genre great films.
Your role as
Lilith Silver in 'Razor Blade
Smile' (1998) is one of your most
popular parts. What about making that film sticks
out most in your mind a little over a decade
later?
Cat suit
and weather.
Eileen you
also have done some very controversial sex scenes
for your movies like the fellatio scene
'All About Anna', the vampire
lesbian scene in 'Razor Blade
Smile' and of course the stump
kissing scene with a cripple in
'Cradle of Fear'. When you are
presented with a script what are your limits when
it comes to sex. Do you have any if it is part of
the character?
I'm just
looking for a new kind of kick, something I ain't
had!!
I also want to
hear a little bit about your band The Courtesans.
What sort of genre is it? What sort of venues do
you play? What direction is the music headed in?
I love my
band "The Courtesans"; we've been
playing all over London in venues big and small,
and this is what the press has to say.....Fronted
by the fabulous Eileen Daly (also known as the
scream-queen of British horror films), The
Courtesans are a gypsy glam rock & roll band.
They specialize in dark tales in waltz time,
sleazy tales set to deadly swing beats and swampy
arabesque stomps. Their set travels from
Louisiana to Peckham via Berlin and they invite
you to join them on their wild and entertaining
voyage!
Small budgeted
horror movies are often the place of some very
surreal, insane, and hilarious. Given your many
films in that genre 'Sentinels of
Darkness', 'Kannibal'
with Linnea Quigley, 'Cradle
of Fear', 'Witchcraft
X: Mistress of the Craft', 'Darkness
Surrounds Roberta', etc. - what
is the most outrageous thing you have yet to
witness on a film set?
I was
doing a film in Brighton with Doug Bradley and we
had to re-shoot an entire day, as the cameraman
had dropped some acid and got a little over
creative!!
You have so
much going on. Tell me a little about your column
in Darkside magazine. What is going to be the
focus of it?
Basically
I took on the column to promote independent
filmmakers as well as alternative writers,
artists and musicians.
Do you have
any other upcoming projects you would like to let
the Racks and Razors readers know about?
As I mentioned
earlier on I've got a new vampire movie 'Little
Miss Macabre' , three other horror films and of
course my band The Courtesans.
Back in the
late 50s they had the series of movies
'I Was a Teenage Werewolf' and 'I
Was a Teenage Frankenstein'. If
they were to make a movie about Eileen Daly's
teenage years it would be called 'I
was a Teenage
_______________________.
'Nightmare',
because..........I'd try anything
Okay, we're
pulling the car into the Eileen Daly Drive In.
Which three favorite horror movies are going to
be on the triple bill for tonight and what
goodies are they going to be serving up at the
concession stand?
'Frightmare'
(uncut), 'I Spit on your Grave' (uncut), and
'Driller Killer' (you guessed it.....uncut. On
the concession stand I will be serving up cold
liver soup.
What was the
first movie to scare the shit out of you?
'The
Exorcist'
What scares
you in real life?
Humans |
