I fondly remember this show as it was created by former teen idol actor/singer Shaun Cassidy in which he was highly acclaimed on doing this show. It for sure seemed like he was following the footsteps of Stephen King by how he wrote the pilot to this amazing series in which we have a demon disguised as the local county head Sheriff Lucas Buck (Gary Cole) as we find a setting on a disturbed family the Temples as the youngest child Caleb (Lucas Black) is celebrating his birthday with his deranged father and Caleb's crazed sister Merlyn who says over and over "Someone's at the Door". Driving her crazed father even more insane and tries to kill her since this evil Sheriff is coming to the home and kills Merlyn as Caleb witnesses this.
Then Lucas puts her father in jail making out that he was responsible and it centers around a young boy Caleb (Lucas Black) then being under the care of his guardian Gail Emory (Paige Turco).
He is saddened his sister is dead but visits him as a ghost as we experience this all the way through the series while Lucas has evil plans for the small county in which many crazy, evil and dysfunctional things starts to happen in each episode.
The pilot was an impressive start and proving that the series is dark and evil. Kinda like a Stephen King tale as it reminds me of the mini-series 'The Stand' although that one wasn't much of a horror and this one just passes to being that type of genre.
Anyone who crosses Buck he uses his evil powers on the person who confronts him in which they end up in a serious consequence which shows that person looking like they were suffering a stroke or moments like that.
In the next episodes I carried on to watch, Merlyn has a dark secret to tell Caleb that Buck is his biological father as he raped their mother which makes things more mysterious and horror fun while we carry on watching the outcomes of this all.
The towns school teacher Selena Coombs (Brenda Bakke) is Bucks mistress as she talks smoothly and there is something wicked about her adding more great chemistry to the series.
More twisted moments happen in the later episodes especially with Caleb slwoly becoming evil himself and what Buck needs to do himself to stop his madness.
Yes folks, the show is about pure evil. The special effects are passable for a TV show and entertaining and the story is a continuation as it made me look forward to watching each episode more and more but sadly ratings didn't go as expected since it was airing the same time plot that 'Picket Fences' were as that show was still having high ratings on the viewers.

Unlike most short-lived TV shows that are forgotten and never seen again this one aired in reruns for a short while on the sci-fi channel as well as onto DVD. This series somewhat became a cult classic and a feather in Cassidy's cap as a writer and producer. Gary Cole lived to play this role as he was for sure award winning material. A show worth checking out.

Oh yessss!!!! A real treat for any fans of the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' flicks as this was shown later at night on prime time television and at times had horror violence so I believe the show advised viewer discretion.
Robert Englund plays Freddy of course in which he hosts this anthology TV series. Most of the times he isn't responsible for killing people in their dreams in which it's by others. He's in a handful of them as the killer and it's a real treat when he is.
He appears here and there while hosting. The pilot episode shows as to how Krueger did the things he did and was directed by the best horror director Tobe Hooper. It seemed cheesy and kinda not believing that this was a prequel to Craven's cult classic but was overall fun to watch regardless.
The first half hour of every episode often showed something dysfunction on that person in which there's terrifying situations. At first you think to yourself he's having a nightmare or is this real??? A perfect brain teaser for ya.
Then at the end of the half hour shows a different twist ans situation often having the supporting character from the first 30 minutes having the lead and showing their story of terror and so fourth. This looked very clever.
All of the episodes take place in SPringwood and shows that this regional area is a dangerous place to be. Certain one's takes place at Nancy Thompson's house along with the odd time someone mentions Freddy even if he isn't in it. Sometimes the same character's reprise their roles some time later in the series.
The last one of the series is one of the best in which it shows a Springwood 20 year reunion in which they went to school with Freddy and a great way to put an end to it all and yes he appears in that one.
A fun series to watch made on a low budget. Two seasons of this aired in which I found that was enough as it was becoming tiresome afterwards. Certain episodes were available on VHS tapes back in the day but I don't think it's available on DVD or streaming.

A 2 part mini-series based off of Stephen King's novel in which this stary seemed to start out exciting on some adult's reuniting after their childhood years being tormented by a demonic looking clown who killed a sibling to one of these friend's as the flashbacks looked great to watch when they are being brutally tormented by their school bullies and get together to try and fight back as Stephen King used similar elements like he did in 'Sometimes They Come Back', 'Carrie' and even 'Christine'. It worked in nicely.
During these times are haunted by this clown figure whom is called Pennywise as this demon preys on their fears which adds a good psycholgical moments.
Of course the kids go to the pond where a storm sewage system is since this object is appearing from sinks and showers in order to try and fight this thing as when they enter the inside of the domain it reminded me of Freddy Kruegers boiler room as this looked cool to watch.
Then when it mainly focuses on the present life it becomes a bit of a drag when they get together after lifetimes to try and really stop Pennywise in which it just seemed rather dull.
Some sad moments on what happens to a couple of their friends in which this was nicely put into the story.
For a TV show it had decent special effects as well as a nice setting so this looked widely entertaining with many top celebrities such as John Ritter, Dennis Christopher, Richard Masur, Annette O'Toole and Tim Curry as Pennywise. Plus a supporting role by Olivia Hussey whom I will always remember as the leading sorority sister in 'Black Christmas'

Yet another 2-part mini-series based off of Stephen King's novel. Apart from it being a horror flick it also combined with other genre's such as a sci-fi, mystery and a thriller all in one.
The story centers around people going away on an airplane from Los Angeles to Boston with people that have a secret that they're hiding from especially an arrogant and high strung businessman Craig Toomy (Bronson Pinchot) as you just feel like slapping him.
We also spot a bright little girl Dinah Bellman (Kate Maberly) who's blind but has a special gift on what she senses.
Things get spooky later on in the plane as everyone falls asleep except for the remainding people that has a dark secret of their own as this leaves a nice psychological feel to everything. Especially when they can't find a ground to land on which leaves great tension to the story.
When they manage to land in an unknown province, the place is deserted along with Dinah warning them on some eating creatures called the Langoliers are on their way in which we all hear a noisy sound on the other side of the mountain. This is to be continued to the second part leaving a chill down your spine as irt begged me for more.
In part 2 we have alot of suspenseful situations with Craig going berserk and hallucinating as well as being murderous too. In part 1 we see that hie is hallucinating that he had an abusive father threatening him about the Langoliers coming after him as this was nicely put into the story.
I don't want to give away the story about the Langoliers appearing as that would be a spoiler. The series has a weird but happy ending.
The show was made on a very low budget as we can tell the plane flying in the air was computer animated as well as everything else that was supposed to be CGI effects looking terribly fake too. Yet a good story as well as a mainstream series with a top cast nevertheless.
The show was written and directed by Tom Holland as he has a reputation for working in other horror shows such as 'Child's Play', 'Fright Night', 'Tales from the Crypt', 'Masters of Horror', 'Thinner' and so fourth.
Worth checking out as it wasn't too scary but a fun one to watch.

Someone told me about this flick based on Stephen King's novel and telling me that it was creepy and great to watch if you're in the Halloween spirit. The story was about a novelist Ben Mears (David Soul) returns home to Salem's Lot after many years is disturbed by the strange behaviour of its people. He seems to be troubled by the eerie old Marsten House that overlooks to the town which is resided by a man Richard K. Straker (James Mason) in which is reportedly haunted.
Next thing he knows that people are disappearing, dying from odd causes as well as having bite marks and the locals are not knowing why this is all happening but some of them are being greeted by the disappearance of the people in which they are not the same anymore along with biting their victims on the neck as well as possessing them to come to them.
Ben must meet up his fears on the house and try to put a stop to Straker as well as the master residing in the house that is causing people's deaths and turning them into vampires one by one with some help by a teenage horror film fanatic Mark Petrie (Lance Kerwin) and the local Doctor Bill Norton (Ed Flanders).
It was very creepy and probably the scariest made for tv miniseries I've ever seen with all the dark effects used in the film and how the vampires looked making it look like a cross between vampires or a possessed Regan from The Exorcist.
A real good moment is when young boy named Mark along with his friends Danny and Ralphie discussing about ghouls and goblins which looked nice in the moment that it was taken on kids being kids enjoying the conversations on scary characters.
A real spooky incident is when both Danny and Ralphie walking in the forest and then the wind blowing with a good dark shadow attacking Ralphie.
Along in the story there's some dark comedy in the story with Cully loading his rifle and then breaking into his bedroom catching both his wife Bonnie and the fellow she's having an affair with fooling around along with her lying about him raping her showing that she's trying to protect her hyde and Willard getting instense to try and save himself telling him that he wasn't. These situations seemed necessary to help the viewers who cringe easily getting through the show.
However, things become terrifying again when Danny in bed and a shot on his window with mist rolling and then a good ghostly vampire figure of Ralphie circling around and tapping on the window which looked incredibly spooky with a good shot on Danny walking towards the window possessed to open it. While watching this you wonder as to whether or not he will actually open it or not. More moments like this occurs later on as it was genuinely scary to watch.
Anyone who's scared of vampires and getting nightmares about it would wanna steer clear from this one it was so well done and probably the most original vampire film I've ever seen.
The head vampire Kurt Barlow very much resembled of those types during an old black and white vampire flick but still looked scary and effective too. Also we spot some nice scenery of the old abandoned house on Salem's Lot which almost resembles the Bates house in Psycho.
The story was different alltogether since Stephen King always makes his stories very orginal than any other horror flick.
This one was very worth watching since the story is great from beginning to end. Well, the beginning was a wee bit slow but then the terror begins.

I enjoyed most of the films but however the first two seasons of the series on this show itself didn't do a heck of alot for me in which I can't explain as I had a hard time following the story.
Yet the first season seemed to look okay which the teens are partying in a house by a lake in which the setting looked fine for a horror flick. Also they get the calls from the killer as to what happens next on being a victim to their games. When we spot the killer they're not wearing a ghost face mask as it made me wonder if it's due to copywright reasons.
When I watched the episodes unravel they offer a lesbian love story and moments like that. Also they offer todays music which is a turn off for me as I hate todays stuff.
In the later episodes when the first season is almost finished the killer pits one of the main characters in their game of cat and mouse which offers deadly booby traps in which this was a nice twist as well as later on when the season ends the killer is revealed which is very much similar to the end of the flicks.

Season Two offers some of the same old things with the survivors from the previous episode being pitted by some new killers with the same non ghost face masks but then things get rolling nicely later on when some of their friends gets buried alive and the others try to make it in time to dig them up to save them from suffocating to death. I must admit that this worked in terrifically as I cringed while seeing this.
While we think that everything is fine there's a new twist that involves a cell phone as another key to rescue another victim and had to answer it as to what to do next which is suspenseful within all the outcome.
The second season was a bit of an improvement.
Then Season Three happens which is the best and final one of the series. It goes in a completely different direction in which students are all together in a Saturday morning detention and all have to stick together since the new killer is on them. Not only that, the killer is wearing the Ghost Face mask in which I cheered this time.
A much better plot to this story and making you to want to watch for more to see as to what will happen next.
There's a Halloween dance as some people dress as Ghost Face and the killer calls one of the people on the dance floor telling them that they are one of them which was mind boggling since it would be an easy task for this maniac to do things sneakily.
Many moments on others suspecting as to who the killer is including someone pointing out as to who the killer is when that person is right there. Made me wonder "Can we trust this person???"
Yes this was the scest season as they saved the best for last and it aired on MTV. The flick offers alot of horror violence just like in the movies so gorehounds will enjoy that. It's nowhere near as good like in most of the film series which probably explains as to why it had a short run with only a handful of episodes in each run.

A 3 part miniseries more loosely based off of Stephen King's novel in which this is better than the original movie itself since that one stood more alone and a little confusing. However this show isn't as scary as the book or the movie itself.
Jack Torrance (Steven Weber) is a recovered alcoholic like in the story but he's not a completel asshole like in the movie. From what I remember in the book he's pretty sane until the hotel they stay at for the winter that he's out of control.
He for sure shows a loving type of fellow and his wife Wendy (Rebecca De Mornay) is pretty level headed too.
Their son Danny (Courtland Mead) seemed to do more and is the real attention grabber compared to the movie too. He brought on a nice spunky type of behavior as well as talking to his imaginary friend Tony (Wil Horneff) appears as a spirit which is different. Plus when Danny sees spirits he tries to close his eyes and counts up to ten and they're gone which is every child's nightmare to do that in order for them to dissappear.
He also shows some telekinetic powers as taught by the head cook at the hotel Dick Halloran (Melvin Van Peebles) as it looked intense as to what happens to his car.
Every episode is great to watch although due to the fact that this is a TV show it's made on a lower budget with cheesy special effects. It's a great story which makes up for all of that.
When the ghouls party at the hotel there's neat ghoulish make up including on Jack himself especially when he tries to go in for the kill as I will admit that some of this looked a bit frightening.
This one had a much happier ending to the story as you will see what I mean when you check this one out. Thre book also had a happier ending but it was a different one for sure.
Some of the music composed for this one had a similar dark feel to it like in the movie along with other types of music too. The flick was well acted. This is one of the best miniseries based off of King's novel. Won some awards which isn't surprising.

A top TV show that airs on Netflix taking place in the early 80's in which the settings looked convincing on this having a total old school appeal to it in which the beginning of this series a little boy was captured by some supernatural forces and taken to their dimension as his mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is a total basket case due to this and trying to do any kinds of communication to bring him back.
A group of preteen friends try to help on this mission and meet an odd girl Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) with telekinetic powers and her nose bleeds when she uses her powers which sounds familiar to a film we remember.
When the series starts rolling this child is rescued but there's all sorts of creepy looking monsters and other types that appear and terrorise locals there along with a school bully picking on these groups of friends to top it all off.
In the series there's also the odd possessions and shocking twisted moments which that happens as well which will boggle and confuse you as to what's going on.
The seasons later on in the show really gets rolling as we have Eleven losing her powers along with going to school and facing some bullies that makes her unwelcoming to their events like rollerskating and getting everyone to hurt her while she's on the rink. This moment really drew me in.
Not only that, the lawman Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is kidnapped and sent to Russia as a prisoner and is tortured there along with being used as a slave while Joyce tries to find a way to rescue him.
The kids also tries to go to the dimension where the creatures reside and tries to find a way to control their own world too without being lost there. Great special effects on all of this.
This proves to be an all round supernatural horror/fantasy series with great special effects. The series is well done and has many dysfunctional characters in the story too. Very much seems to borrow in the same style as Stephen King. The opening credits look pretty 80's like too.

This is my favourite horror series in which was aired on HBO a channel not available in my hometown of Canada and it aired back to back on my channel every Saturday at midnight. In fact I watched Saturday Night Live during this time but I knocked that show and watched this one. After the shows were over I changed my channel to watch the rest of that show as I was overly entertained watching this one. Ahh yess wonderful memories of this series.
I remember the show had gore as it advised viewer discretion but rewatching it I realised there was profanity and nudity in which I don't remember any of that being revealed which may have been cut out when aired as I was aware that HBO was a pay channel and in my hometown my family didn't get a pay channel. Plus it starred many top movie celebrities as my guess is they had a good salary for them to appear on the small screen which was awesome to see who appeared in what chapter.
A wicked opening which I always loved to see and then an intro to the famous cryptkeeper which is worth watching every bit of before it gets into the story.
Each show was a different tale with the odd different twist when we think that something terrifying was resolved but it isn't and so fourth or karma paying someone back big time in a horrifying way which was commonly used.
Beforehand there was a horror anthology motion picture and one of the chapters was reshot which was "And All Through the House" as I was overly entertained more so by watching this episode unravel.
Alot of the comedy blends in with the horror which works just as good especially an episode titled "The New Arrival" in which an abnormally difficult child tests a psychologist as terriftying incidents are happening when he tries to get to this child as I was laughing with what was happening as the mother was spoiling her too much as well as revealing later that he is in a death trap cause the fact this parent spoiled this child to death which had terrific horror timing as well in which this episode stood out in my mind the most.
Another one I remember is "Spoiled" in which a troubled husband does something to his wife and the person she's having an affair with which was out of the ordinary big time and just crazy to watch.
One of my favourite episodes is "The Reluctant Vampire" which is a good natured vampire working as a cop at night.
There were different types of stories some good some bad but later on the show didn't have the same touch when season 6 neared but a one that looked great was the episode "Comes the Dawn" which seemed to borrow heavily from the comic book series of 30 Days of Night and done in great horror style
But then when season 7 which marked the final one for the series as the situations were focused on the UK type of vibe which is hard to adjust after watching it in the Hollywood types.
The very last episode "The Third Pig" was an animated tale and a horror version of 3 Little Pigs narrated by the Cryptkeeper as it offered animated gore as well as this chapter being utterly sick and stupid. Kinda like a horror Looney Tunes but geared for an older audience. Then the plug was pulled on the series.
The first few seasons were great to watch and a must for horror fans.

This show was a 10 episode mini-series as some get the impression that it was a short-lived series but it wasn't. Probably one of the longest running mini-series.
This show seemed to have an enetertaining opening spotting a creepy looking fireplace as we have the late horror legend Boris Karloff hosting this show which looked fun to watch as this might've been an inspiration for other shows to do something similar such as Tales from the Crypt.
The series is black and white which always looked fun to watch seeing an old fashioned horror show but it's a medicre one. However can be enjoyable if you're not expecting anything too fancy.
We hear some nice quiverring music too for the opening since old fashioned horror flicks made more effort composing stuff for their shows.
Pretty much every episode was dealing with ghostly presences or paranormal events which in todays standards looked a little dull but were probably effective back then. There's even an episode that is titled "Jack the Ripper" which is a nice mysterious piece since I was often fond on knowing that killer.
Apart from hosting Karloff often played a different key role in each episode as he was effective in every one.
However this series was considered pretty much obscure and unheard of. Yet you can find a remastered dvd edition of this show like I did. Some might be bored of it though.

A TV series based off the comic book in which it involves survivors from the zombie apocalypse in which they try to stick together going on a journey in which the freeway and city is deserted with broken down vehicles and so fourth.
Sometimes the zombies aren't what they're surviving from in which there's even rednecks causing trouble.
To top it all off there's even warriors (Some good and some bad) in which it looked interesting of them fighting each other or killing the living dead.
While some of the survivors are travelling they stay in a farm area in which there's a barn full of zombies but when you watch later on everyone has to flee for their lives.
Then they walk along a railroad track going to the end of it in which they spot something terrifying with other rednecks torturing others to death which adds more horror formula.
A real touching situation is when a woman is about to have her child she has no choice to be killed after she gives birth to her baby as this was believeably sad while they are fleeing from zombies.
What was really interesting to watch is that in order not to being attacked is to rub zombie blood on themselves as this was never done in other living dead shows and having an original situation here.
A quarter way through the seasons there's more horror with a group of vicious killing rednecks lead by the nasty Neagan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). He kills some of our heroic characters. Not only that, when he is nearby especially in the deep dark woods we hear him whistling before him and his gang attacks as this left a chill down my spine.
Karma pays him back and he turns over a new leaf by trying to help the other survivors. This looked pretty convincing but then we think to ourselves "Can he be trusted???"
Next up for more horror characters the people are pitted against a cult in which they make things uneasy with the others s well as them using the living deads skin made into masks to protect themselves as this was a mildly creative idea in the story.
What's even more creative is when this evil tribe knowing on how to communicate with the dead and they answer. This was almost an original idea.
There's even a battling moment when others are battling away and its dark and foggy adding nice terror formula.
So yes the later seasons were alot better but then during the final season lost it's touch a bit with troopers treating the other surivors like slaves as this looked a bit bland to watch.
Apart from this being a horror it's equally an action flick too with many other horror characters mentioned other than zombies. THe show was influential but this serial didn't do much for me. It carried on a little too long. But yet this series spun off two other shows.
