Jigsaw
John (Tobin Bell) is sick with a brain
tumor and gets his ally Amanda (Shawnee
Smith) to kidnap a surgeon named Dr. Lynn
Denlon (Baher Soomekh) who also has
troubles with her marriage and bring her
to his warehouse and puts a necklace
gadget full of explosives around Lynn's
neck connected to John Kramer's life
support system, and tells her that if he
dies the device will explode forcing
her to help Jigsaw but yet she has the
tools but not the ability to save his
life in which needs a hospital treatment
in which both Amanada and Jigsaw decline
about. Lynn's time is running out in
which she has to save him or it's game
over for her.
Meanwhile, a troubled man named Jeff
(Angus McFadyen) is badly scarred by his
son's death and blames alot of people due
to it and feeling like killing the one's
who prevented it until he is caught in
Jigsaw's game and had to make choices for
a game of forgiveness with surprising
dark consequences.
This sequel
certainly meets up to the first one since
it had alot of great disturbing and even
more painful moments throughout it's
plot. I mean it's hard to imagine the
worst ways of dying and how slow as well
as gross it can be.
It's nice to see where the last one left
off and then continuing with the John
man almost dying of a tumor and still
playing his game but yet he seems to be a
victim himself in many ways but yet tries
to be helpful to one of his victims as if
he's not such a bad guy after all.
Also a nice piece with Eric Matthews as where it left off with
him screaming like he's having a tantrum
while his leg is chained up and trying to
saw the chain off as well as him looking
around the room and spotting a cut off
leg with him trying to do something
similar and getting frusterated about it
all which looked like a realistic person
trapped and being too scared to do
anything.
There's many good camera shots on
police detectives trying to discover a
case with good gruesome shots on a
remains of a slaughtered body which
looked believeably gross with the camera
shots on it all.
Also good painful shots with the
camera zooming in on hooks with chains
impaled on someone with this victim looking anxious and
crying in pain while trying to play the
game in order to survive with a good shot
on the timer going.
A good moment with Kerry pointing her gun in a dark room trying to
track down Jigsaw with a good shot on Amanda wearing a pigs mask coming up
from behind her and thumping her out
which showed some good creepy timing on
all of this. Then there's a good shot on
Kerry in a room with metal objects stuck
to her and a timer timing on her when she
has to get a key out of a container of
acid with good close up shots on her
trying to get the key out of the acid as
well as her hollering in pain which
looked nice and intense.
A nice jumping approach by Amanda wearing the same mask towards Dr. Lynn Denlon as well as later on Amanda herself carrying her in a tied
up in a wheelchair with her crying and
then a good shot on John lying
in bed sick talking to her about a game
he tells her to play and placing
something around her neck and forcing her
to make him get better.
There's a good shot with Amanda and Lynn on each side with John and Lynn telling Amanda that he needs to get treatment at a hospital
and Amanda going crazy on her by
smacking her as well as getting forceful
with her and then John weakly
telling her to stop which was well paced.
There's a good shot on Jeff trapped in a steel box
with him trying to struggle to get out
and getting upset and aggressive which
looked good.
A good flashback moment on Jeff in a room with a child as a
dysfunctional conversation between father and
daughter when she has a stuffed toy who
belonged to her dead brother which had a
nice dark feel to the moments on it.
Some good creepy moments with him in a room with a woman naked and chained up crying
to ask him to set her free and good close
up shots with freezing water being poured
all over her
giving a terrific horror feel to all of
this.
There's alot of gross outs like pigs
being grinded up into slop which I almost
felt like puking when I saw this. The
tortures were certainly heavy and even to
some horror fans might not be able to
handle all of that's happening.
A good disturbing shot on
supporting character Judge Halden with his neck strapped down in a big tub
object and good creepy shots on dead pigs
being grinded up with the remains pouring
in on him as he does well begging towards Jeff to free him which
looked incredibly cringing thinking of a
slow and gross way to die by drowning in
pigs guts and goop. YUCK. Many terrific
camera takes on all of this which looked
gloomy and gruesome.
There's lots of great takes with Lynn doing head surgery on John and
her calm words towards him as well as him
acting patient and trying not to yell in
pain while she's doing this plus some
great close up shots on her doing surgery
in his head. There's also nice moments
with Amanda crying hysterically
pacing around which looked nicely
done.
A good struggling moment with someone screaming
in pain while strapped up on a machine
that's twisting his body with good close
up shots on all of this plus good
panicking moments with Judge Halden and Jeff trying to find the
key to unlock him and encouraging him to
hang in there.
There's many great flashback scene's.
Some old and some new which totally
explains as to why Jigsaw started this
game along with how the first victims
were trapped there in the first place
uncovering alot of horror mysteries as
well as describing the junkie Amanda and
to how she got involved with everything.
A good flashback moment with both Amanda and John preparing to start the game by putting a
sleeping body in a tub and chaining his
leg etc. which looked good with their
words towards one another and nice shots
on this.
There's another nice flashback moment
with Eric limping in a dark
hallway getting hysterical by beating up
on Amanda with him yelling in
pain with close up shot on his injured
foot and falling down. This scene was
very well energised.
There's a good moment with Amanda getting in a rage by shooting Lynn and just going berserk with John weakly telling her it's all over and
telling her about what was all done with
her.
There's lots of great dark corridors
leading to more traps which I loved as
well as spotting brief victims being
tortured to death in many artsy ways
which looked terrifically done and would
look good to create for a funhouse.
It's also shows a good message on someone
who holds grudge's against people showing
to the viewers who act like that is not
worth doing cause what if this or that
would happen to someone else. It's
definetely a good showing of nasty karma
just like in the previous films which
would scre the shit out of anyone in real
life wondering if they were kidnappend
and had to go through as well as this
wondering if they'd survive all of this.
Bottom line is this is a great sequel and
probably more worth watching than the
original since it's more clever and alot
is happening here and can get nightmares
after watching this thinking about what
if this can happen to you. It's not one
of those creeping up on you type of scary
it's what's in your mind type of scary
known as psychological.
The ending was great too leaving a door
open for a nother sequel since the Saw films are almost like watching a horror
soap opera just eager to find out what's
happening next.
The acting is in great
shape as always in which Tobin Bell (Jigsaw / John) seems
to have a change of character this time
as someone who is sick and does well by
speaking weakly and showing a good
sympathetic attitude this time around. He
shows a nice versatality in his role of
the film and proves he can wear many hats
with his roles that he does.
Baher Soomeh (Dr. Lynn Denlon) really made her part
believeable playing a surgeon in the film
and shows that she studied this part very
well with her calm behavior when she
performs surgery. She also does well with
her emotional attitude and her tense
frightened behavior as well. She brought
alot of great charisma to the set of the
film.
Shawnee Smith (Amanda) really brought it out
this time in which I found this her best
performance in all the Saw movies I've
seen showing a real demented and nasty
attitude on her part and behaving
unpredictable too. She really knew how to
lash out and act violent too showing a
nice intensity with her emotions along with good forceful aggressions too.
Angus McFaden (Jeff) shows a great
aggressions to his part and knew all of
this inside out and shows nice sneering
expressions too along with some nice
rough looks too which is one of the
pluses to his performance in it. He was a
total ball of energy and shows it off
very well.
Although Donnie Wahlberg (Eric Matthews) had a
small role this time around I found he
was more energetic than in the previous
sequel with his screaming aggressions and
his reactions to his pain with what he
did to his leg. He was great all the way
through his role even if it was under 5
minutes long but has 2 scene's in this
alltogether. He can almost meet up to the
talents of his younger sibling.
Zoe Health is
naked top to bottom while hung up and
having icy water sprayed on her.
There's guts splattered
around a room
Hooks are impaled in a guys body
Flesh is torn off a woman's body with her
insides revealed
Pigs are being thrown in a grinder with
gory remains being spilled out
A body is getting twisted up with bones
snapping out of the person's body
The side of a person's head is blown off
by a gun
John's head is cut open for brain surgery
with his insdes of his head revealed
A throat is slit open by an electric saw
We still hear the low
gloomy keyboard playing along with the
march of the drum beatings too. Plus
there's some good fast action paced
classical music in certain spots
especially towards the ending of the film
where it is most effective. Plus there's
the high piano tense playing too. Charlie
Clouser of course composed all of
this as always.
Dr. Lynn Denlon: Who
are you? Who are you? WHAT IS THIS? WHAT
ARE YOU DOING?
Amanda: [casually threatens
Lynn with a knife] Are you gonna
behave?
Amanda: [to Lynn]
Let me give you the simple version. You
will keep him alive, whatever it takes.
No excuses, no equivocations.
[whispers]
Amanda: No crying.
Dr. Lynn Denlon: I
have the instruments to cut someone open.
I don't have the tools to save a life.
Amanda: [glances down at the
reverse beartrap on the ground] You'd
be surprised what tools can save a life.
Amanda: So?
Dr. Lynn Denlon: My twenty second
analysis without any medical equipment is
that his brain is herniating.
Amanda: [sarcastically] Oh.
Dr. Lynn Denlon: He needs to go to
the hospital and have an operation to
decompress his brain.
Amanda: [whispers] Come
here. No, really, come here. Come here.
Dr. Lynn Denlon: No.
Amanda: [whispers] Let me
ask you something.
[grabs Lynn by the hair]
Amanda: Did I bring John to you?
Or did I bring your self-centered ass to
him?
[whispers]
Amanda: Now you better start
fucking paying attention. No one's going
to any hospital.
[forcibly lets Lynn go]
Dr. Lynn Denlon: I can't perform
miracles. You're giving him painkillers -
for a tumor like this he needs steroids,
prednisones.
Amanda: [sarcastically] Oh,
good, yeah.
[yells]
Amanda: Maybe we could try some
corticosteroids, you know, like
dexamethasone. Why don't you fucking tell
me something that I don't know! Stupid
cunt!
Judge Halden: Don't
become what he is! Don't become a
murderer!
Jeff: [while the
Judge is screaming for his life] Shut
the fuck up...
Judge Halden: Jeff,
just standing there, you're accomplice to
murder. Are you a murderer Jeff?
Jeff: I've been wanting to kill
him for to years.
[Timothy Young starts screaming in
agony]
Jeff: Yeah. Maybe I am.
Dr. Lynn Denlon: [during
the surgery] How do you feel, John?
Jigsaw: Never been better.
Amanda: I'm sorry. I
know it's hard to concentrate when you're
surrounded by so many things you could
kill me with. Like this axe I saw you
looking at.
[holds the axe out to Lynn]
Amanda: Take it. Please, it's
yours. Come on. I go for the neck, but
I'm not the brain surgeon. Just do it
quietly so John doesn't hear me die.
Otherwise, he is likely to get upset, rip
off his heart rate monitor - boom! Then,
you just have to find the sensor and
disarm it so you can walk more than
thirty feet out that door without the
collar detonating. Or, you could try and
take the collar off yourself. But that
could be tricky. The slightest knock in
the wrong place could trigger it. I
should know. I built it.
Amanda: He's
completed the third test.
Jigsaw: Congratulations Lynn,
you're free to go.
Amanda: Yeah, but he's not all the
way out yet.
[shakes her head]
Jigsaw: Undo her collar, Amanda,
and let her go.
Amanda: No, he's not finished.
He's not all the way.
Jigsaw: Amanda, Lynn is more
important than you know. Unlock her
collar and let her go.
Amanda: [whispering] I said
no.
[caulks a handgun]
Jigsaw: Amanda, there are rules.
Amanda: [yelling] I said
no!
Jigsaw: And what
about the other test subjects?
Amanda: What about 'em?
Jigsaw: Is that how you felt about
them? Is that how you felt about Eric
Matthews?
Amanda: Eric Matthews? I'll tell
you how I felt about Eric Matthews. Eric
Matthews learned NOTHING from your test.
He was the SAME person he was and he
arrested me, and he framed me when he
took me DOWN!
[flashback]
Eric Matthews: Where is he, you
junkie bitch? You're not Jigsaw, bitch!
Jigsaw: [after
Amanda gets shot] Amanda... It's OK.
This was your test. Your game. I was
testing you. I took you in. I selected
you for the honor of carrying on my
life's work. But you didn't. You didn't
test anyone's will to live. Instead you
took away their only chance. Your games
were unwinnable, your subjects merely
victims. In my desperation I decided to
give you one last chance. So I put
everything in place. You didn't know that
Lynn and Jeff were husband and wife. I
had to keep that from you for the
purposes of my game. I had to leave out
the ruined marriage, the cheating wife,
the vengeful husband, the neglected
daughter and I let you make your own
choices. I wanted you to succeed... You
couldn't.
[Amanda begins to collapse and die]
Jigsaw: God...
[Amanda finally dies]
Jigsaw: Game over.
Jeff: I forgive you.
Jigsaw: Hello, Jeff.
I made this tape as an insurance policy,
if you will. And if you're listening to
it, then it's time to collect. I was your
final test of forgiveness and if you're
listening to this, then you've failed.
Now you must pay the price. The price for
living for nothing but vengeance. Now I
will give you something to live for. I
told you that you couldn't kill me, Jeff,
but I didn't tell you why. The answer is
simple. I am the person responsible for
the loss of your child. I am the only
person who knows where your daughter is.
She only has a limited supply of air,
Jeff, and if you want to get her back,
you'll have to play a game.
Jeff: No!
Dr. Lynn Denlon: Jeff!
