I am a big fan of Robert Englund's work since I saw him portray none other than Freddy Krueger and noticed on a movie guide that he directed a cult horror flick '976 Evil' so I rented it back in the day at my local video store. I thorougly enjoyed it.
The lead actor in it was of course Stephen Geoffreys in which I found out that he stood out well as a nerdy wimp getting picked on and then calls that number which is run by the devil and then he becomes posessed and seeking revenge.
He was of course full of energy within his performance and it was almost hard to see him play any other than a nerd with his looks and appeal for what he did in this one. But again doesn't have limitations as a nerd like say Eddie Deezen.
He was a true character actor by all means and not letting an punce of energy down in his performance as I wondered what other work he's done in which I looked at the back of the video box and said he was known for 'Fright Night'.
So I rented 'Fright Night' and wasn't disappointed. In fact it became my second favouriite vampire flick ('The Lost Boys' is my first). It blended comedy with horror as Geoffreys has nice comedic timing with his humoress persona.
In this one he played a hyperactive horror geek as one of the main supporting roles. He becomes a vampire in which he was goofy but deadly in his role. How he became a vampire was by his best friends newly next door neighbor Jerry Dandridge (Chris Sarandon) whom is a vampire that sleeps in the day.
His best friend is Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) in which he tries to rescure the girl of his dreams Amy Peterson (Amanda Bearse of TV's 'Married with Children' fame) from becoming the next creature of the night with the aid of his favourite TV horror host Peter VIncent (Roddy McDowell)..
Geoffreys role was a force of nature by being goofy but deadly when trying
to attack these two along with preventing them to save Amy. Anyone who watched this he will stick out in your mind of his role without a doubt.
This was the flick he was well remembered for and boy is it fun and my favourite of all the shows that I've seen him in. I could see him getting work in future horror flicks as he has a knack for it along with his wild comedic characters that he does in them.
Both of these films earned a sequel in which he was offered to reprise his roles in. Yet he declined to do them as this was a shame since he could've really brought out his roles in them big time like he did in these one's.
He was in non horror flicks as at times he played a nerd but portrayed other roles too. He did team up with Bearse again in as the lead nerd in 'Fraternity Vacation', then played a somewhat rebellious kid in 'Heaven Help Us', a slimy drug dealer in 'Moon 44', 'At Close Range' and was an inmate in a bad horror flick 'The Chair'
What also caught my attention is that he did live theatre which is the true craft of acting in which he performed in off-Broadway productions such as "The Human Comedy" (Geoffreys was nominated for a Broadway Tony Award for Best Actor for the subsequent Broadway production of this play), "Maggie/Magalita," and "Songs on the Shipwrecked Sofa."
Shockingly he decided to perform in many hardcore gay porn flicks during the mid 90's to early millenium.
He did return to legit acting after he left the adult film industry but by performing in bad independent horror films along with having smaller roles in them like 'Sick Girl', 'Emerging Past', 'Bite Marks' and 'The Day of the Living Dead'
Well Geoffreys you were great while you had it.
However, what caught my attention is that apart from acting he writes short stories as well as surprisingly became an avid bodybuilder which is a huge difference than what he looked like in his early days.

Heaven Help Us 1985. Geoffreys' first gig as well as for many of the other young actors like Kevin Dillon )Matt's bro). He also got to work with a mainstream cast such as John Heard and Donald Sutherland.
The flick is a comedy romance, set in the 1960's, about a new student Michael Dunn (Andrew McCarthy) going to a Catholic private school who tries to fit in with the others and encounters the school bully Rooney (Dillon) in which he makes things uneasy for him.
Geoffrey's plays the friend of Rooney named Williams and is sex crazed teen in which he gets into trouble masturbating or other sexual things he does to himself.
He breezes through alot of the lines with the odd one liners and proving that his role isn't small at all.
He has a memorable scene while helping a preacher with giving Holy wafers to some cute girls and he passes out.
Michael tries to have a romantic relationship with the healthy girl next door that works at a diner Danni (Mary Stuart Masterson) as this looked nicely done.
Michael and the gang has an abusive teacher Brother Constance (Jay Patterson) by putting them through hell and he gets what's coming to him in the end which looked well done as I felt like hitting this asshole.
The story is well written and a nice start for Geoffreys by having bigger roles to come.
Fraternity Vacation 1985. Geoffreys has the lead role in this one as of course a nerd in which I thought this was his best performance compared to any other shows I've seen him in as he plays the role of Wendell Tvedt gains the friendship of two of his frat brothers when his dad offers them his condo for the week in Palm Springs, and also offers the fraternity a hot tub and jacuzzi if they can help his son find a girl.
Geoffreys narrates the beginning of the film when arriving at the airport during a blizzard and does well acting clumsy and outspoken throughout his performance which makes him unlikeable to the others and does it in decent comedic style.
His two friends try to make him look cool but it doesn't work and he meets up with a pretty girl Nicole Ferrett (Amanda Bearse) and they hit it off while the two other frat brothers Joe (Cameron Dye) and Charles
(Leigh McCloskey) meet two guys from a rival fraternity, and make a bet on who can nail the Designated Babe first.
Of course within this there's some skin the odd times as well as more bizarre moments like someone parachuting and landing in a pool as well as behaving very sexy taking off his top while this moment is happening.
These frat brothers still luck out but realise that Wendell is doing better off than they are for being himself but things get sticky with him when Nicole turns on him and Geoffreys does a nice job getting emotionally upset and telling her off which stood out well in my mind while watching this as well as his friends hurting someone's feelings whom is one of those pretty girl next door types Ashley Taylor (Sheree Wilson) as she drives off upset and helps out Wendell after his car stalls and they hit it off since he is a decent person who doesn't play games which shows a good message in this flick to be yourself and honest.
The story was slightly a bit cornballish at first but in the end it was well done and decent to watch. What also grabbed my attention is that a couple of tracks were by the 80's girl pop group Bananarama.
Geoffrey's really had a knack for playing this type of role and put his talents to the test in this one.
Fright Night 1985. His first horror flick he co-starred in which marks his most notable acting gig. He teams up with Amanda Bearse once again in this one and it's one of my favourite vampire flicks.
He plays a horror geek nick named Evil Ed and is friends with the lead actor William Ragsdale whom plays the role of Charley Brewster as he is convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire but Evil Ed doesn't believe him.
But one night Evil Ed runs into Charlie's neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) and turn him into one of the creatures of the night.
Geoffreys knew on how to act wild and crazy during these moments and definetly was goofily evil and menacing. Offers some good tongue in cheek.
Amanda Bearse plays the girl Charley is in love with but is under Jerry so he goes to the aid of a horror host that he watches on a late night TV show Peter Vincent
(Roddy McDowell) in order to rescue her from this head vampire's evil grasps.
Geoffreys as mentioned breezes thorugh in many memorable and effective scene's. As mentioned he was great by trying to act blood thirsty and vicious with his speaking while becoming a vampire himself. He was great with his hyped up laughter and knew on how to act hyper throughout his whole performance in general and not just while being a vampire.
Yet at the end of his role is sad and you'll see what I mean while watching this one. For all of his fans if you haven't seen this one by all means check it out.
The flick has a great soundtrack with many 80's popular artists like April Wine, The J. Geils Band, Autograph, Ian Hunter, Devo and many more!!!
At Close Range 1986. Based on a true story which stars Sean Penn as a rebellious kid reuniting with his criminal murderous father. His brother Chris plays his younger bro as well.
His character does wild things and acts like he's having a good time. Geoffreys pops in and out as Sean's friend in which they do rebellious things together with the rest of his friends which includes a young Kiefer Sutherland when he was a fresh struggling actor.
Geoffreys most powerful moment in the flick is that he breaks in to steal a display along with Penn and the others break in to steal a tractor and other vehicles. They end up in jail for a short period.
His character sadly gets killed later on in the story. All of this is a sad story and disturbing too with the father played by Christopher Walken. It's a violent crime flick indeed and quite well done too.
The Chair 1988. An awful flick on a cell ready for bringing new inmates to it after being closed for so long. Warden Edward Dryer (Paul Benedict) has a dark secret on what happened to someone after their execution and is haunting the place.
Geoffreys has a supporting role in this one as one of the inamtes as everyone called him Roach. He appears briefly here and there during the run of it.
But halfway through the story he really brings out his insane energy to one of the people that works at the cell as he gets into them being trapped like rats as well as to his other fellow inmates about it all and losing total control. This looked great on what he does here.
Him and the others circle around one of the counsellors Lisa Titus (Trini Alvarato) and taunts her adding a terrific intimidating moment.
Yes he was dynamic in his performance coming across as crazy like his other inamtes but being the most hyper one of them all.
However making this flick was nearly a waste of time and energy. But there was some cheesy effects with electricity swarming around this prison as this looked entertaining in a horror story.
The horror in this flick however took a long time to prove that it was this type of genre with boring and pointless situations.
976 Evil 1988. This was the first flick I saw him in as mentioned in which I found this to be his best performance. Not only that, he was the lead in this one.
He of course plays a misfit nerd named Hoax in which he does greatly with his hyperactive attitude and living with his crazed religious fanatical Aunt Lucy (Sandy Dennis) and his punk cousin Spike (Patrick O'Bryan).
Hoax constantly gets picked on at his school and Spike has to protect him in which there's some upsetting moments on what these assholes do to him to make you feel sorry for this helpless kid in which Geoffreys really brought his performance to life while being this way making everything come natural.
He calls a horrorscope after reading it in a paper to seek revenge on the people who wronged him but there was a prank that went wrong. In fact in the horrorscope it is run by the devil himself and posesses Hoax's body killing the bullies and looking monstrous.
Geoffreys shows a great versatality with his firm and cold speaking as well as getting powerful.
He deserves an award for his role in this one. Yet the ending for him is very sad. This flick was dark and twisted. Not your everyday film.
At the same time this is a very good movie directed by the guy who played Freddy Krueger whom is none than other Robert Englund. Plus many jokes on the killings in this flick are Freddy related.
Moon 44 1990. A nicely done action/sci-fi flick in which he has a good supporting role named Cookie in which he's a wisecracking drug dealer on a ship going to a moon from a different galaxy.
He fits into the story as a technical wizard with his other friends controlling violent criminals into a helicopter defense force assigned to protect a mining station on a remote moon.
These criminals pick on him as well as his other friends. One of them gets raped while in the mens shower room.
When this young victim controls his helicopter to crash and kill this rapist he is sent to a solitary room on this space ship. He ends up commiting suicide and then this Cookie charater and his friends seek revenge on the others by using one of his drugs on someone else causing him to O.D.
Later on they all manage to be allies and Cookie is accidently killed in a gruesome way near the end of the story.
Geoffreys does quite well in his role with his spunky and smart allecky behavior. Plus this low budgeter I must say had some decent special effects.
Apparently the flick went to theatre's in Germany but I think on a limited basis. However, it went direct-to-video here in North America.
Sick Girl 2007. Geoffreys return to legit acting while leaving the gay porn industry but however isn't getting bigger roles anymore and being in really bad low budget flicks such as this one.
A disgusted twisted film of a disturbed teenage girl Izzy (Leslie Andrews) that kills, tortures and kidnaps certain people and puts them in her barn. She mainly does nasty deeds to bullies and so fourth.
He has a few scene's in this flick as a school teacher with his head balding and is feeling sad about his lost pet rat and asking anyone if they find it during their Christmas break to return it to him.
Then in another scene Izzy goes to her brothers school as that's where he teaches him and warning about him being good to her brother in which this looked mildly effective.
In his last scene he is at home and goes to his front door and a gift is given to him which is his pet rat as he is in joy of happiness. This looked uplifting by how he performed this piece.
This flick was pretty bad with alot of bad acting and a real perverted gory scene which is not easy to watch.
Emerging Past 2011.A dull psychological slasher horror which involves a dellusional photographer Pamela Garrett (Krista Grotte Saxon) spots sacrifices and other bizarre incidents that targets around her.
Geoffreys plays her boss Cameron as he is only in two scene's. He portays someone whom is arrogant and cocky.
He gets aggressive with her and sends her on a mission in his first scene and then in the second one tells her that they haven't worked together in years as well as becoming a threat to her to top it all off. Definetely has that trashy 'Twilight Zone' feel to it.
He traveled to New York and tried to put on a Bronx accent but he wasn't believable at all with this. You can tell that he wasn't really keen on playing this role. He plays a different part in it at least than someone hyper or a nerd.
Bite Marks 2011. A really bad horror comedy that directs the gay market scene in which Geoffreys' only has an effective cameo in this one which is one of the only scene's that's worth watching.
Geoffreys appears during the beginning of the story before the opening credits as a truck driver named Walsh whom is aggressive and becomes a victim by a mysterious vampire after he checks his cargo that is carrying coffins.
Then Walsh's kid brother Brewster (Benjamin Lutz) takes over his job as the vehicle is reported missing and picks up a gay couple that was hitchhiking to a summer camp.
Trust me most of what goes on from then is a total bore!
Yet they end up near a junkyard when night time hits and there's topless vampires attacking which is another scene that's worth watching for a short time.
Geoffreys appears again as one of the creatures of the night by having his scene's with the character Lutz plays as he viciously speaks to him offering good comedic and horror timing along with their struggles towards one another as this was the best scene ever.
Geoffreys character gets killed off by being decapitated from a shovel.
This flick seriously bites the dust and a total waste of time as well as an independent no budgeter.
The Day of the Living Dead 2014. The makers of 'Emerging Past' made this clunker but a bit better. Not by much though. Geoffreys made a cameo in this one too.
The story takes place in 1957 in Hollywood as people start to turn into zombies due to chain smoking in which an insurance investigator George A. Lazrus (Ray Capuana) tries to investigate missing people or anyone who turns up dead.
Most of this is done black and white with the settings looking convincing for a 50's type of fashion.
Geoffreys turns up as a basket case whom confesses that he killed his wife when calling the police which is strange I must admit. Then he goes into his bathroom to do a dilligent shaving. By his side there's a bloody axe as well his wife rises from the dead in a bathtub fully nude. She then murders him and it looks bloody. When the murderous scene takes place it shows the scene in full color.
His performance is very wooden as he has a stuttering voice. Although he's meant to do this it isn't convincing nevertheless. Yet at the end of his role he sure does an intense bloodied screaming which stood out well.
Most of the acting in this one is pretty bad and the story is quite boring with the odd good dark moments on a zombie attacking. What's different in this one is the aombies are smart and uses weapons to kill their victims before eating them.
