In 1957 Hollywood, California, an insurance investigator George A. Lazarus (Ray Capuana) goes on a search for missing people who turn up as zombies in which is caused by them chain smoking.

The story on this flick is rather confusing but I will give it a whirl on my thoughts of it. In which there's a beginning taking place I believe on present day with a woman staring out at her window with a zombie munching away on an animal as well as it's walker suffocating to death which will be a hard one to watch if you're a dog lover in general.
Afterwards in the home we spot a preacher talking to someone who seems to be dying in hid bed and so fourth as it was necessary to put him in for a zombie flick such as this one.

The story later on takes place in 1957 viewing the Hollywood sign. The screen becomes black and white which is a perfect touch for that as the settings and everything looked impressive for a setting like what we see in the story.
A woman residing in a motel dressed up fancy and what it looks like she seems to be taking her life in a suffocating way by putting a plastic bag over her head in which this doesn't explain as to why she is doing this. It looked twisted and bizarre for sure.

After the opening credits, there's a woman in the morning having a discussion while she's smoking a cigarette in which none of this looked natural and too slow to top it off. However her husband appears whom isn't what he seems to be anymore with a great gruesome result on his wife which isn't for everyone's taste especially someone with a strong stomach.

An uplifting scene takes place afterwards with George A. Lazarus, Bethany Loomis and
Ben 'Chip' Logan in their work office as this was fairly natural to watch and not too shabby at all.

A confusing moment is when we spot a fellow named Steven Wells called the local police and stuttering to the police to come over as he murdered his wife. I couldn't understand why he would put himself under and arrest which seemed strange and all.
After this he starts shaving constantly as this was stronge to watch as well. Plus there's good camera shots on a bloody sink with a bloody axe lying on the counter. A good add in the scene for a horror flick.
His wife does rise up after being killed but not the same person we knew with a nice horrific touch as to what she does to her husband in which this looked perfectly intense and necessary for a zombie horror flick.

The next scene's didn't seem to show any horror stuff as it confused me wondering if it's another type of theme such as George talking to someone named Ms. Daniels at her desk while smoking and she gets sneering with him and just getting cold towards him. This was done in a good fashion and almost looking natural on both parties.

One of the two workers which looks like they're in a construction area is hacking and coughing as I was hoping that maybe something horrific will happen like he's turn into a zombie. But a deadly accidental situation happens with his co worker and then someone does happen as this looked horeific but not in a zombie fashion.

An unnecessary scene however is when there's a kinky moment with a woman bring dominant to a man with him sobbing as I thought to myself "Why isn't he enjoying himself??? It took way too long and was hoping to see more horror later on as this looked too confusing as to what to expect.

Bethany and Chip is having some unfinished business with what seems to be a loan shark Mammon Beelzebub with this man's wife getting vulgar and he acts slick about stuff. Certainly looked well done. I was still thinking to myself is this turning into a crime flick now?????

The horror kicks in again as during the evening, George goes to pay a visit to someone whom has his face scarred while fixing his car in which this made me wonder if he was slowly turning. It looked well done for this cheap horror.
When dawn is about to break Bethany and Chip pays a visit to the home and things are way too silent. This is a prefect timing for th terror to start again which can give anyone the chills. Boy does the terror really start which showed perfect timing for a bad flick like this one.

George tries to get answers from someone with a corpse lying on the ground in which there's a moment paying a tribute to any zombie flick with this born again zombie rising up. This was well shot on what happens here.

However, a unique moment with a zombie is when he kills a stupid teen with a sledgehammer before feasting on him is out of the ordinary since these beings don't know how to do this. A gold star for this moment but not to save this clunker for being good.

Bottom line is the film is bad but saves it from bombing with interesting moments that was already mentioned in this review. They made the scenery look convincing to be set in the late 50s like cars, outfits and especially a malt shop. Plus they made most of the pic look black and white. However, the story is very weak and confusing alot. Just doesn't cut it sadly.

The acting is quite stiff with only certain one's worth mentioning. Natalie Victoria (Bethany Loomis) however seemed to pull off her outgoing personality in a fair fashion showing lots of spunk and energy, Delivers her lines quite well. Yet when she freaks out during the terrors that surrounds her she's a bit over the top. She had the nice healthy girl next door looks though.

Ray Capuana (George A. Lazarus) however was a bit wooden in his role and is just saying his lines. Has a hard time by getting into character especially when he gets aggressive or being loud. At the same time offers a good seriousness which was a part of his character and had the right middle aged seriousness too.

Kevin Eugene Franklin
(Ben 'Chip' Logan) seemed to pull his weight off quite well for what he did here. Seemed average when he acts outgoing but still did well when stressing situations and shows off some okay characteristics whenever he was this way.

Thomas J. Churchill
(Mammon Beelzebub) had the most effective supporting role playing as a mobster of some kind with his smooth easy going but creepy talking and his evil chuckling. Seemed decent while getting into his role and had the perfect looks and appeal to this part.

Jeff Dylan Graham (Freddy) did quite well as your stupid everyday teenager. Did an impressive job with his tough speaking as well as he looked good as a greaser and pulled it off right. Although he's often in bad horror flicks he often does a good job in them like this one for example.

Stephen Geoffreys
(Steven Wells) however was stiff in his role. He had a hard time speaking his words although he was meant to be nervous. Yet he wasn't believable while being this way. During the end of his performance though let out a blood curdling scream which shines off greatly.

A naked zombie rises out from a tub

A battered body is on the ground chewed up.
Zombie eats insides of a dog.
Gruesome chewed up zombie faces revealed..
Face is sliced by broken glass if a mirror.
Arm is grinded off from a machine.
Faces are scarred.
Woman bloodily stabs someone in the face and neck.
Teens head is bloodily bashed by a sledgehammer.

Jon Brunner was okay with his composing on this piece in which there's the odd smooth violin playing and odd scratching sounds too. Also has some buzzing noises for when the zombies are about to attack which is mildly chilling and I do mean mildly. The music for the opening and closing credits sounded okay too with cheesy orchestral music but not trashy by any means.
