Decades ago on an island a woman is raped and pregnated. Then present day her child is a bloodthirsty killer and starts hunting down and killing teenager that crashed on this deserted island

The story starts off with a prologue which involves a party at the island and then leaves off with someone being raped which looked highly intense as well as very disturbing. There's careful camera shots on all of this making this moment hard to watch what unfolds here. Then her guard dogs are attacking this rapist offering the odd graphic effects. I was thinking that I might be in for a good flick. Yet a little disappointed while I continued watching the rest of it.
During present day we have some siblings and friends getting ready at home for their boat cruise in which their discussions look a little too wooden and unnatural. The situations were definitely cheesy to watch the outcomes out of all this.
Then they party on their boat in the daytime as all of this looked pointless to watch along with everything being a time waster.
An improvement starts when things get foggy at night which looked like a great touch in the story for a horror flick.
The suspense happens when the friends see someone on a boat using a flair stick for help. It made things seem mysterious when he gets rescued.
Things turn sour when two siblings are fighting over the wheel of the boat which kept me in suspense by having a bad feeling that something terrible would happen in which this seems to be common in a horror flick. I watched carefully bit by bit.
While being stranded on the island a perfect terrorising moment when the troublemaking sibling Nick Sibling goes exploring to find help and is chased by a german shepherd. This involved great action shots looking intensely suspenseful. The offscreen killer comes into the picture and for dog lovers you won't want to see as to what this maniac does.
Sandy and Eric goes exploring and find an old house in which there's many near creepy moments that you could be on the edge of your seat especially when Eric is cautious on stuff.
Some of the situations tricks you with a false alarm but yet Sandy spots something very terrifying as the scenery on all this was well done.
Donna goes looking for blackberries in the forest as there's a nice shot .
closing in on her as it's impressive showing the maniac closing in on her. I wondered if she would be his next victim.
Many other situations and discussions were pretty bland in order to kill time as I was wondering why the reasons to be for this mysterious killer. Yet Sandy finds some stuff at that abandoned home and she explains to Eric as the reasons for this mysterious person. It was well put in which saves the flick from being below average.
The terror strikes them when they try to escape from this hulking figure in which Eric though he killed him and tells Sandy that it's okay now. Of course we all know better and a stupid thing to give up thinking that it's all over. This scene was done in a cheesy taste and not as suspenseful like it was intended to be.
Sandy tries to hide from the killer and tries to make out it's his mother talking to him and telling this thing to go back down in the cellar where he belongs. Another watching moment wondering she tricked him. Of course we all know that it would be way too easy in a horror film especially a slasher that she will be safe. Not as easy as that.
Once again in the dark scary night she runs away and trying to escape. Things looked very terrorising in a boat dock from the killer as she tries to light the place on fire since she finds this killer has fear for flames. I must admit that this moment looked a bit strong.
Bottom line is that this film is fairly stale with some interesting mysterious moments. It's a ripoff to the 1981 cult classic flick Hell Night. Alot of the moments here looked terribly slow. A Canadian made film in Ontario in which their great lakes indeed look like an ocean as the locations worked out for the story. Still the moments here were pointless.

The acting is quite dated in which most of the cast tried their best in what they did here.
Janet Julian (Sandy Ralston) from Hollywood played the lead heroine. She had a good soft speaking attiude as well as showing off a nice charm. However her fearful behavior and her screaming was way off and too forced. She seemed low on energy behaving like that. Yet when she is running away she shows off some decent energy during those moments.
David Wysocki (Eric Simmons) seemed to do alot better as the heartthrob boy next door type. Shows off a good guy role as well as showing a believable smart type of the crowd. He had the right clean cut looks and appeal. A good choice in my books. However, when he is excited thinking that he killed the maniac he needed to seem more convincing.
Janit Baldwin (Carla Simmons) was mediocre. Not terrivle by any means. Comes off well when she is speaking her lines as well as coming clear that she's a brainy type. Does well when she appears in and out of scene's showing off some good spunk.
Joy Boushel (Donna Blake) was very wooden in her performance as she was struggling to try and get into character in which you could tell if you saw her in this flick. She needed to pick up the pace as she was dull.
Layne Coleman (Bert Defoe) definitly came across as someone mysterious. Shows some great energy during the beginning of his performance. Does okay in other spots as he tries to pick up the pace. At times he was a bit rough.
Bronwen Mantel (Irene) I had to mention in which she had one of the most effective supporting roles playing a somewhat cold blooded and forceful nurse in the asylum. Does well with her speaking in which she sounds very untrustworthy. Not a name actress but can be fondly remembered for her part as she brought it to life.
John Wildman (Nick Simmons) played the rebellious teen. He was incredibly rough and over the top by acting arrogant and another one who forced his lines out. He wasn't with it. Yet he had the right looks and appeal for this part. He needed lessons regardless.

Woman's panties are torn off and vagina briefly exposed.
A teen is topless in a room changing into a shirt.
Later on once again exposes her breasts near a shore of an island.

Dogs slkaughter a rapist. Then his throat is slit.
Victims are bloodily crushed to death by the killer.
Slaughtered corpses are in a room.

John Mills-Cockell composes this piece with some cheesy suspenseful music which suits the story itself. Of course some chilling high pitched icy sounds and some deep music done by a synthesizer as you can tell. Some quiverring music too for the real spooky moments. At times it gets to be a bit much. He also uses the odd music from Terror Train.

Tom Rice: [before raping Ida] You're going to feel something now, old maid. You're going to know what you've been missing.
Eric Simmons: Here. Take over.
Sandy Ralston: Why?
Eric Simmons: I need both hands.
Sandy Ralston: Now, he's romantic.
Eric Simmons: What do you mean?
[pulling down Sandy's bikini bottom]
Eric Simmons: I saw you staring at Donna's ass.
Eric Simmons: Hey, it was your ass I was staring at.
Sandy Ralston: Uh huh.
Eric Simmons: Are you kidding? It's one of the seven wonders of the world.
Sandy Ralston: Really?
Eric Simmons: Really.
[Eric's hands are on Sandy's behind]
Sandy Ralston: Eric!
Eric Simmons: Both hands on the wheel.
Eric Simmons: Eric, somebody might come up.
Eric Simmons: So what? I wasn't my fault. I couldn't resist.
Sandy Ralston: [giggling] What are you doing? What do you have in mind?
