Jennifer Maguirre (Erin McGrane) takes her kids to pick up her husband at the airport but are stopped by a tornado in which they try to escape to a house that is locked but looks abadoned.
They find a storm cellar and hide under there only to discover that there are residents above who board them in there.
That isn't their only fear in which some creatures lurk in the cellar as well as around the yard there.

An interesting beginning with a mother Janet Maguire driving on the road in a rainstorm with her kids going to an airport to pick up her husband. The discussions were in a fair pace and so fourth when travel to different areas as well as locals in the area and the radio warning on a tornado passing by. This for sure entertained me as I enjoy those type of shows.

The suspense packs a punch when an alarm goes off and the family has to flee from the car with a tornado on their tail. Yet the special effects looked slightly phony. Yet this was an indie low budget flick so I didn't expect anything too special.
They flee to a house and try to call out or get in but the door has a lock chain in which things looked strongly suspenseful and a bit intense as it kept me watching and wondering if they will be okay or not.
Then they discover a doorway outside to an attic and run to this as this looked well done. Yet it gave me a mysterious feeling that they're in for a dangerous situation.

During this storm prevents a fallen tree preventing them to leave so one of the kids named Alice tries to crawl through one of the windows to get help as this left a chilling feeling that something is out there watching her by how this was shot and a mysterious monster chomps on her arm as this looked terrifying and well done. This left me wondering as to how this monster came to be and this thing isn't fully revealed so it made me look forward to the rest of the story to find out as to what will unravel later on.

The family suddenly realises that some residents come out and board up the windows and so fourth which leaves a great tension that they're trapped. This gets very interesting and packed with suspense. Offers some intensity to what happens here in which it left a sinking feeling for sure.

A deputy looks around the home and is greeted by what is a seemingly nice old lady Mrs. Shurman. While she lets him into her home things look deceivingly peaceful. He asks her about a missing family in which later on she shows off a different expression on her face. A real eye catcher here as I found this chilling to watch in which I kind of knew that danger is near.

When the deputy is ready to leave he hears the family calling out for help and he unboards a window while trying to help him. A good distance camera shot slowly closing in on him while this moment is happening. This gave me an eerie feeling that something bad is going to happen. This left me at the edge of my seat. A well drawn in moment.

Meanwhile the youngest child Sally hears a growling sound which was effective and boy do things look creepy with a fast action moment by what we see happening later on in this scene. Certainly offered a good moment for a creature feature.

When tragedy strikes things look very gloomy for the family with Janet being a basket case telling the others they're going to die in the cellar. This for sure leaves another intense feel to the story while watching this. Yet Jennifer gets courageous and preparing for battle with a nail gun. This moment really packs a punch and full of action when things start to roll big time.

They go into action managing to escape the cellar but yet another tragic moment starts to happen. This involves some sort of an explosion offering a powerful moment. Later on things look very sad by who was affected by.
Suddenly the survivors are surrounded by creepy locals and some ghoulish types of moments. This for sure leaves a Twilight Zone old fashioned type of appeal. These moments also includes Mrs. Shurman staring gloomily towards these survivors with one of them looking like they are about to shoot themselves. This situation made me watch carefully wondering if she will succeed.
More moments occur looking like it will be the end of the story but it teases you by what happens later on.

Bottom line is this seemed to borrow a bit from the Descent but done in a much better style. It's creepy and imaginative. A good creature feature flick with the strange surroundings at the home making every moment look truly mysterious. Definitely a film worth checking out.

The acting is pretty good but only certain one's worth mentioning here so let's take a look.... Ah yes Erin McGrane (Janet Maguire) was the best in the cast in which she showed off a good level headed type of mother acting strong. She offered a versatile attitude later on by acting like a basket case and feeling depressed which shined off well. She proved to be a worthy character actress.

Meg Saricks (Jennifer Maguire) stood out strongly as the oldest sibling in which showed off a great presence. Does well with her courageous attitude as well as knowing on how to get into battle and making it fairly believable doing this. Showed off a ton of intense energy by how she got into action.

Sally Spurgeon (Sally Maguire) shows off a convincing bright attitude in which she shows off a nice and patient behavior within all that she did here. Does well with her speaking too making things sound clear. Also near the end of her performance does well by acting fearful which shines off nicely.

(Mrs. Shurman) had a smaller supporting role but was worth mentioning in which she really brought out her characteristics. Showed off in the beginning as a welcoming kind old lady, THen changes that later on with offering a good wicked attitude and evil expressions too. A true horror character.

Julian Bickford does a fantastic job with her strong classical composing especially during the storms that occur in the story or when the creatures attack. Offers some great screechy sounds as well as intense trombone playing. Plus some decent piano playing in certain spots of the story. Of course the music sounded adventureous in alot of spots too.
