A storm in a small country of Georgia causes some powerlines to break and touch the ground as this causes millions of man eating worms to crawl out of the soil and to terrorise the area.

The beginning looked very impressive revealing a windy thunderstorm in a small isaloated country taking place at night. Nice shots on lightning striking as well as a telephone wire shooting down on the ground. To top it off close up shots on some worms with fangs which looked funny to watch instead of this being scary.

The next day we spot a landscaper Roger Grimes doing some yard work for the Sanders family in the country. The situations looked quite fair within what they're talking about. Roger himself had a somewhat mysterious and eccentric attitude as it drew my attention quite well.

A geeky type of kid Mick is getting off a bus with his fishing equipment in which he is clumsy with it all. Supposed to make you laugh by what goes on here but it was unfunny.
He walks into the wooded area which is supposed to leave a chilling feeling that these killer worms might get him. This was set out nicely. However, nothing happens just yet in which things are a little too soon for that.
Geri Sanders picks him up as he borrows Roger's truck that's full of bloodworms. Then they realise these things have all disappeared. While this happens adds more mysterious flavor to the story. For sure a nice pointer as to what will happen later on in the story.

Mick goes to a local diner filled with rednecks in which they make him unwelcome. He orders what's like a milkshake called an eggcream in which he is having a discussion while nearly drinking it. A nice surprising moment when he spots a worm in it. Everyone thinks he did it as a prank with the nasty Sheriff Jim Reston getting in his face about it all. Certain showed a nice tension of being unwanted in their small town. Looked strongly done here.

Mick and Geri goes to a neighbors house as they spot a skeletal corpse lying in the dirt. Although that this is a nice mysterious horror touch the object looks quite fake. But it does add some chemistry to the story.
While they contact the Sheriff about it the corpse is gone as this evil lawman threatens Mick to leave town. This moment for sure leaves good tension on where he is staying is a very territorial zone full of unfriendly people.

The two of them invite Roger to go fishing with them. While this happens some nice close up shots on one of them trying to put a worm on a hook in which this scares Roger. For sure this moment was drawn in. Also Mick gets bitten by a worm which for sure brings on the horror that will unleash later on. He goes to take care of himself. What's really creepy is that Roger shows them his cut off thumb due to the worms.
While Roger and Geri are together alone he tries to come on to her as this was creepy to watch for what he says to her. Definitely a discomforting moment for what he tries to do to her. A good shot on some worms slithering on the boat towards him. While she pushes him off and he falls back a good creepy close up shot on his face to what the worms did to him. This was a memorable scene to anyone who saw this flick. Yet the effects looked pretty dated and cheesy.

When Geri arrives home she is about to take a shower. She turns the knob to find no water coming through. Yet a good shot looking up on the shower with worms about to crawl out. This kept me in suspense wondering if these objects will attack her if she kept the knob turned on.

The terror unravels after Mick and Geri finds a dead body as they try to get help in which there's a car mirror revealing Roger with his deformed face. A nice creepy touch indeed.
They try and get help finding the Sheriff with his mistress eating spaghetti. Some good close up shots on them as it made me wonder if a worm will be revealed or not. Of course this lawman is too pigheaded to care. I got a sinking feeling that he will be done in very soon.

Everyone is at home having dinner in which the worms are eating through the roots of a tree. This for sure looked terrorising when this object is about to collapse on the house. The moments here were incredibly suspenseful to watch the outcomes.

Mick goes off to try and put a stop to this madness using any types of devices to kill these things. Yet Roger attacks him and still looking deformed in which he knocks him unconcious while lying in a pit. Looked fairly spooky as to how this eccentric person changing into a madman due to what the worms did to him.
Meanwhile, Geri's younger sister Alma is about to go and take a shower as I knew this wasn't a great idea at all. I had a feeling she was heading for her deathbed. A memorable touch to the story.

The story goes to the Sheriff in his office on a bedside jail cell being romantic with his mistress which is a great drawing card that these worms are about to attsck them. Especially when there's a nice camera shot looming towards them. I was saying finally he's getting what's coming to him. A nice moment to all of this since it's common to see what the nasty people get during the end of their fate.
To top it off, the diner that Mick went to with the unwelcoming owners are being terrorised too with shots on tons of these critters squirming around. This for sure will please fans of terrifying invasions.

The showdown really happens after Mick gains conciousness and tries to save the Sanders in which a door opens from the bathroom as a tons of these things pour out.
Mick has another struggling moment with Roger as he tries to kill him but pushes him into a pool of these killer worms. This moment was another memorable situations when he is swarmed by them. Yet this doesn't stop him just yet when this maniac tries to bite his leg while trying to climb out of a window of the home. For sure all of this kept me in suspense to see if anyone will survive this madness.

Bottom line is that it's a fun flick to watch and not as bad as it's reputed to be. Not that great but is a simple horror invasion story. Made on a decent low budget too. However some of the special effects needed a bit more improvement yet not terrible either. Was aired on TV a few times in the day so it was a familiar name. Worth checking out for the fun of it but if you're looking for a good solid story this may not be the one for you.

The acting is dated but passable in which Don Scardino (Mick) portrayed a nerdy and intelligent type in the film. Offers a good seriousness as well as great energy throughout his whole performance. Reacts well to things and knew on how to act anxious when the terror piles up as well as acting convincingly brave.

Patricia Pearcy (Geri Sanders) seemed to show off a spunky and charming personality as a farm girl type along with her healthy looks and appeal. Really knew on how to get into the moments in each scene as well as acting nervous in certain spots. For sure showed off a fearful reactions to the terrors. Yes was a passable character actress.

Jean Sullivan (Naomi Sanders) really brought it on as the single family woman. Came across well as a basket case with her emotionless attitude. Definitely came across as someone whom isn't with it at all. She really brought attention a fair deal onto the screen.

Fran Higgins (Alma Sanders) showed off alot of energy with her annoying hyped attitude. Of course she portrayed the youngest in her family. Yet she seemed a little too tall for her role but hey that's okay. Showed off some enthusiasm into what she did regardless.

R.A. Dow (Roger Grimes) for sure knew on how to act eccentric as well as on the ball with stuff during the beginning of his performance. Also does an okay job when trying to come across creepily in a certain scene too. Yet when he acts crazy later on in his performance he needed a bit of a push to improve on that.

Peter MacLean (Sheriff Jim Reston) Of course we can't forget about this guy. He certainly had a great motive as a closed minded redneck lawman. Knew on how to get into your face and show off a discomfort to someone else. Was perfectly unpleasant as well as acting pigheaded. For sure came across as someone who should be the victim of the terrors that happen in the flick.

Robert Prince did a fair job with his music in which he composed low budget sounds with his synthesizer having a more unique sound to everything. This was done in good taste especially with the near terror. Also some odd low piano playing and some string pluckings which added extra flavor to the story. Later on the odd classical violin music too. So he showed some versatality into alot of the scene's.

A beautiful sounding song is played during the closing credits which is titled "A Million Ways to Love You" with a woman singer as her vocalising sounded soothing and smooth. Very catchy here. Seems strange to have this happy type song in a horror flick though.
